Box Score Bull Scores For Washington
HAVERFORD, Pa. – Russell Nicholson scored the golden goal for #17 Haverford with 4:20 remaining in the first overtime session from Nick Jannelli to give the hosts a 2-1 win over visiting Washington College in the semifinal round of the Centennial Conference Men's Soccer Tournament at Walton Field on midday Saturday. The Fords, the tournament's top seed, improve to 12-3-3 on the season and will play the winner of #8 Franklin & Marshall (second seed in the CC Tournament) and Johns Hopkins (the third seed) tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. The Shoremen conclude their most successful season since 2000 with a 10-7-2 record.

How It Happened
- Nicholson scored the winning goal at the 95:40 mark from the middle of the six receiving Jannelli's pass from the left side and was able to deflect the pass past Washington goalie Jonathan Luciani, just past Luciani's left leg. The play started when Haverford won the near midfield following a failed Shoremen clear.
- In the first half off of a corner kick, Haverford's Nicholson had the contest's first prime scoring chance, but his header from the left side of the six hit the left post and the follow up shot by Tejan Walcott went wide to the left.
- In the 15th minute, the Fords' Nick Jannelli had a one-on-one with Washington's goalie Josh Samuels from the six, but his shot went high.
- Haverford was awarded a free kick in the 18th minute on a foul just outside the box and Will Corkery's shot from the left side was saved by Samuels. Off of a throw-in, Walcott had a shot go just wide to the right.
- The Shoremen's first shot came at the 24:23 mark by Chris Lewandowski from the right side of the six-yard box, but it was saved by Jeremy Astesano. Lewandowski got the rebound but his shot from near the endline went wide to the right.
- Washington got onto the board with 14:11 remaining in the first half when Griffin Bull fielded a misplay by the Haverford defense and his chip shot from 20 yards out on the left side went into the upper right of the goal.
- Haverford had a breakaway attempt to tie the match, but Samuels came out of his net to turn away Ben Field's shot with just over two minutes to go in the half. Samuels' stop allowed Washington to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.
- In the second half with 38:25 remaining, the Shoremen were forced to play a man down when Bull was issued his second yellow card which results in a red card following a foul.
- The Fords with 64th minute had a chance on a cross by Nick John, but his pass did not find either of the two teammates in the box and went out of bounds.
- With 22:25 left, Corkery's free kick from the right side just outside the 18 was saved by WC goalie Luciani who had just come in to replace Samuels.
- In the 69th minute, Jannelli had a one-on-one with Luciani, but Luciani came out and made a kick save to preserve the lead.
- On another free kick from just outside the box, Corkery's attempt was punched over the net to force a corner kick.
- Off the corner, Maclin Willigan hit the crossbar on his header. John would tie the match at 1-1 when he stole a WC clearing attempt and from 25 yards out put the ball into the left side of the goal to level the contest with 17:17 remaining.
- Brian Wilkinson almost put the Shoremen back ahead with 11:42 remaining but his shot hit the inside of the crossbar on the right side and bounced out. Haverford was able to clear the rebound attempt.
- Walcott had a chance to give the Fords their first lead of the match with just under 10 minutes to go, but his shot went high.
- Reiss Berger of Haverford had a shot aimed for the lower left corner saved by Luciani with 8:56 to go.
- Ryan Hill of the hosts had a shot just go over the goal with 7:17 left in regulation.
- Nicholson had the last chance for Haverford with 2:51 left but his shot sailed high.
- Jannelli had the first chance in overtime, but his shot was stopped by Luciani 1:32 into the extra session.
- Corkery on a free kick had his shot from 20 yards out with just under five minutes to go in the extra period blocked by Dimitri Kaliakin.
For The Shoremen (10-7-2)

Notes
- It was the program's best season in 16 years when the Shoremen went 11-7-2 in 2000.
- Washington played in its first ever CC Tournament semifinal in men's soccer as they were in the tournament for the first time.
- Luciani set a career-high in saves with five in the match.
- Kaliakin finished the season with 12 assists, one off of the program record. Mark Sinkinson '72 holds the mark for most helpers in a single season with 13, which he set as a senior in 1971.
- Kaliakin's 12 helpers is currently tops in the Centennial.
- Today marked the final time in a Shoremen uniform for eight seniors. The eight seniors were Kaliakin, Lewandowski, Wilkinson, Christian Cooke, Derek Stiles, Cole Strong, Drew Thompson and Jonathan Wendeborn.
