Box Score Marshall Scores Team-High 21 Points; Porteous Hands Out Game-Best Seven Assists
CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Visiting Haverford scored the game's final six points to turn an 87-85 deficit into a 91-87 win over host Washington College on Saturday afternoon in a Centennial Conference men's basketball game at the Cain Athletic Center. The Fords shot season bests of 57% from the field and 60% from three-point range to overcome turning the ball over 24 times.

How It Happened
- After the Shoremen scored the opening basket on a layup by Dallas Marshall 34 seconds into the game, the Fords scored eight straight points to take an 8-2 lead on a three-pointer by Kahlil Garnes.
- The Fords took their second eight point of the lead of half at 33-25 with 6:05 to go in the first on a triple by Joe Hartman.
- Washington would answer with a 15-7 run to tie the game at 40-40 with 3:35 remaining on two free throws by James Drury.
- Haverford finished the half by scoring eight of the last 12 points to take a 48-44 lead into halftime. Joe Scibelli capped the first half scoring with a free throw with six seconds left.
- In the second half, Washington trailed 56-48 with 17:39 left before going on an 18-9 run to take their first lead since early in the first half, 66-65, on a Jack Greer jumper with 10:32 remaining.
- With the score knotted at 73-73, the hosts scored six straight points to take a 79-73 lead with 6:39 left on a two free throws by Tas Dixon.
- Haverford countered with a 10-4 run to level the game at 83-83 with 2:55 to go on a Scibelli basket.
- Washington scored its final basket of the game with 2:06 left to go up 87-85 on a Marshall lay-in.
- Scibelli would give the Fords the lead for good, 88-87, with 25.2 seconds to go on a jumper in the paint.
- The Shoremen could not answer on the other end and Jonathan Lang grabbed the missed layup. Lang would make one-of-two from the foul line to give the Fords an 89-87 lead with 3.1 left.
- Washington's last chance was ended as Scibelli intercepted the throw-in by the Shoremen and he would make both free throws to provide the final margin with two seconds left.
For The Shoremen (4-4, 1-3)
- Marshall (team-high 21 points on 9-for-11 shooting to establish career-best in points), Tas Dixon (15 points, game-best four steals and four assists), James Drury (13 points), Josh Porteous (seven assists to lead all players and sets personal-high in helpers), Austin Allen (three steals).
- Washington had 14 steals and forced 24 Haverford turnovers in the contest. The Shoremen coughed it up 14 times in the loss.
- The Shoremen outscored the Fords in points off of turnovers (34-13), points in the paint (44-26), transition points (12-4) and bench points (34-18).
- The Shoremen shot 50% (30-for-60) from the floor, 24% (4-for-17) from three-point range and 92% (23-for-25) from the foul line. WC shot a season high from both the floor and the foul line.
For Haverford (2-7, 1-3)
- Garnes (game-high 28 points, team-high six assists and 5-for-7 from three-point range), Scibelli (27 points and eight boards), Sam Stogdan (game-high nine rebounds), Grayson Roth (11 points, 3-for-3 from three-point range)
- The Fords shot 57% (28-for-49) from the floor, 60% (12-for-20) from three-point range and 89% (23-for-26) from the free throw stripe. The Fords had their best percentages of the season from the floor and behind the arc.
- Haverford outscored Washington 13-10 in second chance points and held a 31-21 edge in rebounds.

- Allen had his third three steal game of the season.
- Marshall was named the Chestertown McDonald's Shoremen Player of the Game on the Goose Nation TV webcast of the game for the second day in a row.
