Box Score Grundy, Quattro Reach Double Figures in Scoring for Shorewomen in Loss
CHESTERTOWN, Md. — Visiting Haverford College got 18 points and 11 rebounds from Sierra Berkel as the Fords grabbed a narrow 53-52 Centennial Conference women's basketball win over host Washington College this afternoon inside Cain Athletic Center. The game featured 10 lead changes and 10 ties.

How It Happened
- The Fords scored the final four points of the first quarter to take a 16-11 lead after one period.
- Haverford held a 20-15 lead in the second quarter before the Shorewomen ran off nine straight points to surge ahead, 24-20, on a pair of Cassidy Quattro free throws with 5:50 on the clock. Haverford answered with the next seven points to pull back ahead, 27-24, on a Macy Goldbach jumper with 2:53 to go. Caitlyn Clark knocked down a three on the other end for the Shorewomen, but a Megan Furch free throw with 2:26 showing gave the Fords a one-point lead. Washington went back ahead, 29-28, on a step-back jumper by Ali Grundy with 55 seconds to go as the Shorewomen took the slim advantage into the halftime break.
- The two teams traded leads early in the third quarter until the Fords scored five straight points to take a 39-35 lead midway through the period. The Shorewomen scored the next four points to even the game at 39-39 on a Grundy jumper with 1:31 remaining, but Berkel made a pair of free throws for the Fords with 30 seconds to go to put Haverford back in front, 41-39, before the end of the quarter.
- The Shorewomen tied the score at 41-41 on the first possession of the fourth quarter and took their first lead of the period on a Clark three-pointer with 7:01 to go that gave Washington a 44-43 advantage. Goldbach countered with a three of her own, but Quattro evened the score at 46-46 with a lay-up with 6:08 left. Haverford then scored the next four points to go up, 50-46, on a Goldbach lay-up with 5:04 left. Later, a Goldbach three gave the Fords a five-point cusion at 53-48 with 3:22 to go.
- A turnaround jumper by Emily Thiemann got the Shorewomen back to within three at 53-50 with 2:25 remaining. A leaning jumper by Bridget McLaughlin sliced the margin to one at 53-52 with 1:06 showing on the clock. A shot clock violation by Haverford gave the ball back to the Shorewomen with 31.8 seconds to go. Thiemann had a chance to win it at the buzzer with a lay-up but her shot went off the rim as the Fords held on for the victory.

- Grundy (12 points, 4 assists, 3 steals); Quattro (10 points 9 rebounds); Thiemann (8 points, 9 rebounds); Clark (8 points, 3 steals)
- The Shorewomen shot 35% from the field, 33% from three-point range, and 90% from the free-throw line. They held a 37-34 advantage in rebounds.
For Haverford (5-4, 3-2 Centennial Conference)
- Berkel (18 points, 11 rebounds); Goldbach (15 points); Katie Cook (8 points)
- The Fords shot 35% from the field, 28% from three-point range, and 59% at the free-throw line. Haverford committed 11 turnovers to the Shorewomen's 15.
