Box Score Porteous Paces Shoremen with Career-High 21 Points
CHESTERTOWN, Md. — Visiting Dickinson College used a 13-0 second-half run to take control of the game but had to hold off a furious late push by host Washington College to hang on for a 96-91 Centennial Conference men's basketball victory this afternoon inside Cain Athletic Center.

How It Happened
- The Shoremen held an early 11-7 lead before the Red Devils went on a 21-5 run to surge ahead, 28-16, on a three-pointer by Moses Romocki with 7:15 remaining in the first half. Washington answered with a 16-6 run of its own, trimming the margin down to two on a pair of Alec Lewis free throws with 2:56 on the clock. Dickinson had a 41-37 lead in the waning seconds of the period before a Josh Porteous steal and lay-up with four seconds to go cut the lead back to two (41-39) before halftime.
- Washington tied the score twice in the opening moments of the second half before taking its first lead since the early going on a lay-up and free throw by Brandon Berry with 17:10 remaining to make the score 46-45 in favor of the Shoremen. A pair of Joey Shelton free throws would push that advantage to three, but Dickinson scored the next five points to retake the lead at 50-48 on two Michael Jurzynski free throws at 14:31. Armand del Castillo then sank a three-pointer for the Shoremen, briefly putting them back in the lead 51-50 with 13:50 to go.
- The two teams then traded one-point leads before the decisive 13-0 run by the Red Devils gave them a 64-53 advantage on a a lay-up by Jurzynski with 9:37 remaining. The Dickinson lead grew to as many as 19 points to complete a larger 22-4 stretch before a 17-6 run by Washington cut the margin to eight on a pair of Berry free throws with 2:09 to go. That was as close as the Shoremen would get until a lay-up and free throw by Dallas Marshall with 37 seconds left whittled the lead down to six at 88-82. Romocki made two free throws for Dickinson with 33 seconds to go, but Berry countered with a lay-up with 27 seconds left.
- After Jule Brown made one of two free throws with 26 seconds remaining, Jack Greer knocked down a jumper for the Shoremen with 18 seconds left to narrow the margin to five at 91-86. Mike Hinckley made two free throws for Dickinson with 17 seconds showing, but Porteous scored a lay-up six seconds later to cut the lead back down to five. Romocki made the second of two free throws nine seconds left before Greer drained a high-arcing step-back three-pointer with 3.1 seconds showing to make it a one-possession game at 94-91. Following a Washington timeout, The Red Devils successfully inbounded the ball and Romocki made two free throws with 2.0 seconds remaining to provide the final margin.

- The Shoremen shot 55.9% from the field, 41.7% from three-point range, and 71.4% from the free-throw line.

- Romocki (22 points, 5-for-5 field goals, 11-for-15 free throws); Justus Melton (22 points, 9-for-11 field goals, 4-for-5 free throws); Jurzynski (19 points, 7-for-9 field goals, 4-for-4 free thows), 6 rebounds; Elijah Wright (11 points)
- The Red Devils shot 59.6% from the field, 28.6% from three-point range, and 73.5% from the free-throw line. As a team, Dickinson shot 49 free throws, making 36 of them. The Red Devils also held a 33-23 rebounding advanteg.
