GETTYSBURG, Pa. — Visiting Washington College scored nine unanswered points in a critical late-game stretch to post a 52-44 Centennial Conference men's basketball win over host Gettysburg College this afternoon. The win completed the Shoremen's first-ever season sweep of the Bullets.

- Gettysburg missed its first eight shots from the field, but took an 8-5 lead on their first make - a three-pointer by Pete Christ with 13:11 left in the first half. - Washington answered with a 9-0 run to take a 14-13 lead on a Nick Schmelzer three-pointer with 7:05 on the clock. Neither team led by more than two points the rest of the half as the Shoremen took a 20-19 lead into the intermission. The Shoremen wound up shooting 9-for-29 from the field in the half, but Gettysburg was even less accurate, going 5-for-26.

James Drury scored the next four points for the Shoremen to level the game at 26-26, but the Bullets scored the next four points to go up, 30-26, on a Tanner Kirkpatrick lay-up with 10:44 to play. The Shoremen scored the next six to briefly take a 32-30 lead on a Dallas Marshall lay-up with 9:01 remaining. Mlynue Reeves evened the score for the Bullets 31 seconds later.
- Schmelzer put the Shoremen back in front, 34-32 with a jumper with 7:05 to go. Gettysburg then scored the next five points for a 37-34 lead on a steal and lay-up by Duffey with 6:16 left. The Shoremen got the next four points, taking a 38-37 lead when Drury made one of two free throws with 3:47 remaining.
- After Cam Stewart made one free throw to tie the score for the Bullets, Drury knocked down a wide-open three-pointer for a 41-38 Shoremen lead with 3:14 left. Kirkpatrick then missed two free throws for Gettysburg with 2:48 left and a jumper by Tas Dixon gave the Shoremen a 43-38 lead with 2:25 to play. Duffey was called for a charge on the next Bullet possession.
- Neither team scored again until Drury made a pair of free throws with 1:08 left to stretch the Washington lead to seven at 45-38 with 1:08 remaining. Armand de Castillo stole the ball from Duffey on the next possession and made a pair of free throws with 59 seconds left as the lead ballooned to nine at 47-38. The Shoremen led by at least seven points the rest of the way.

Notes

Gettysburg had swept or split the season series every year since prior to this one. The Shoremen were 91-90 double-overtime winners over the Bullets in Chestertown last month.
- The Shoremen's six wins this season are their most since going 14-13 during the 2011-12 season.
