Mules Pull Away from Shorewomen Early in 82-40 Win

CHESTERTOWN, Md. — Visiting Muhlenberg College used a run of 15 unanswered points in the second quarter to break the game open en route to an 82-40 Centennial Conference women's basketball victory over host Washington College this afternoon inside Cain Athletic Center.

How It Happened
- Muhlenberg ended the first quarter on a 12-2 run to take a 17-10 lead after the first 10 minutes.
- The Shorewomen twice cut the deficit to five early in the second quarter before the Mules later went on their big 15-0 run, building a 41-16 cushion on a pair of Chelsea Gary free throws with 1:10 to go before the intermission. After a pair of Ali Grundy free throws for the Shorewomen, Caroline Hogg hit a jumper at the buzzer to give the Mules a sizable 43-18 halftime advantage.
- Muhlenberg went on to out-score the Shorewomen, 20-13, in the third quarter and, 19-9, in the fourth. The 42-point final margin was the Mules' largest of the game.

For the Shorewomen (8-11, 5-9 Centennial Conference)
- Ali Grundy (9 points); Taylor Samuels (6 points); Bridget McLaughlin (6 points)
- The Shorewomen shot 25% from the field and 7-for-16 from the free throw line. They were just 1-for-13 from three-point range.

For Muhlenberg (13-6, 10-4 Centennial Conference)
- Rachel Plotke (17 points, 6 rebounds); Gary (12 points, 11 rebounds, 4 blocks); Maggie Zerbe (10 points); Sara Dilly (9 points); Brandi Vallely (4 points, 12 assists)
- The Mules shot 46.2% from the field and 15-for-18 from the foul line. They were 7-for-20 from three-point range.
- Muhlenberg held a commanding 58-30 rebounding advantage.

Notes
- Grundy was named the Goose Nation TV Shorewomen Player of the Game on the webcast of the contest. She extended her consecutive games with a made three-pointer streak to 24 games, the longest current streak in the Centennial Conference.
