Strong Shooting Propels Fords Past Shoremen, 83-73

Marshall Scores Game-High 18 Points and Pulls Down Team-Best Seven Rebounds

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Host Haverford shot 64% from the floor to down visiting Washington College, 83-73, on Wednesday evening in a Centennial Conference men's basketball game at Gooding Arena.  The Fords, who had five players tally double figures, shot a season-best from the floor and from three-point range, where they shot 75% on six makes in eight tries.

How It Happened
- The Shoremen jumped out to an 11-4 lead just 4:43 into the game on two James Drury free throws.
- Haverford would counter with a 16-2 run of its own to take a 20-13 lead with 10:43 to go in the first half on a Jonathan Lang jumper.  The Fords took their second eight point of the lead of half at 33-25 with 6:05 to go in the first on a triple by Joe Hartman.
- Washington responded with a 12-4 spurt to take a 25-24 lead with 4:47 to go in the first on a layup by Austin Allen.  Allen started the possession as he stole a Haverford pass. 
- Trailing 27-26 with 4:19 left in the half, the Fords scored eight of the last 10 points to take a 34-29 lead into halftime.  Kyle Goldfarb made a jumper with one second left to cap the first half scoring.  Kahlil Garnes put the hosts up for good on a layup with 90 seconds left in the half at 30-28.
- In the second half, Haverford took a 49-40 lead with 12:31 left in the contest when Jonathan Lang canned a three-pointer from left corner to give the Fords their biggest lead of the game. 
- The Shoremen answered with an 8-0 run to trim the Fords' lead to just one at 49-48 on a traditional three-point play by Dallas Marshall with 10:57 to go.    
- Leading 58-54 with 8:21 to go following a Marshall free throw, Haverford scored seven straight points to take a 65-54 lead on a Joe Hartman jumper.
- Haverford would push its lead to as many as 14 points on two occasions the rest of the way and Washington could only come as close as eight points on a Jack Greer three-pointer to trim the deficit to 76-68 with 1:53 to go.

For The Shoremen (6-14, 2-11 CC)
- Marshall (game-high 18 points and team-best seven rebounds), Greer (15 points, 4-for-7 from three-point range), Drury (team-best four assists), Josh Porteous (11 points).
- Washington held a 34-25 advantage on the boards.
- The Shoremen had 19 turnovers in the loss.
- WC outscored the Fords in points second chance points (15-4).
- The Shoremen shot 44% (24-for-54) from the floor, 31% (5-for-16) from three-point range and 61% (20-for-33) from the foul line. 

For Haverford (3-17, 2-11 CC)
- Hartman (team-topping 16 points and led all players with seven assists and three steals), Lang (16 points to tie for team-high, 6-for-7 from the floor and 3-for-3 from three), Garnes (15 points), Sherman (15 points), Goldfarb (10 points), Grayson Roth (contest-best 10 rebounds)
- The Fords shot 64% (33-for-52) from the floor, 75% (6-for-8) from three-point range and 61% (11-for-18) from the free throw stripe.  The Fords had their best percentages of the season from the floor and behind the arc. 
- Haverford outscored Washington 23-15 in points off of turnovers, 38-26 in points in the paint, 34-26 in bench points and 10-0 in transition points.
- The Fords had 16 turnovers in the game and had nine of the contest's 11 steals.

Notes
- Greer has scored in double figures in consecutive games as he has tallied his first two double digit point outings in each of the last two games.
- Marshall averaged 19.5 points per game in the two games versus the Fords this season.  His two highest scoring efforts this season have both come against Haverford as he had 21 points to set a career-best in the December 10 meeting.
