Shoremen Off to Best Start in Seven Years Following 9-0 Win Over McDaniel

CHESTERTOWN, Md. — The Washington College men's tennis team, ranked 20th in the Atlantic South region, won its first Centennial Conference match of the spring by easily dispatching of visiting McDaniel, 9-0, this afternoon at Schottland Tennis Center. The Shoremen, off to their best start in seven years, improved to 7-1 overall with the win, while the Green Terror fell to 2-8 and 0-3 in conference matches with the loss.

Doubles
- Jeremy Novick and Luke Weaver opened the double sweep for the Shoremen with an 8-0 win over Justin Arter and Nick Reed at No. 3.
- Zack Novick and Justin Panepinto then finished an 8-1 win over Tate Myers and Will Giles at No. 2.
- Chris Salisbury and Jake Sandler finished doubles off with their 8-2 victory against Corey Glocker and Andrew Kendrick at No. 3.

Singles
- Jeremy Novick blanked Myers, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 4 for a 4-0 Washington lead. Weaver followed with the clincher, a 6-0, 6-0, win at No. 3 against Kendrick.
- Salisbury downed Giles, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 1, Sandler bested Glocker, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2, August Meriot downed Logan Lindenmann, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 5, and John Niswander defeated Aidan Finnerty, 8-0, at No. 6 to complete the 9-0 win.

Notes
- The Shoremen opened the 2010 dual-match season by winning eight of their first nine matches en route to a 12-6 finish and a spot in the Centennial Conference Semifinals.
