Shorewomen Win at Two Doubles Spots, Three Singles Spots

CHESTERTOWN, Md. — The Washington College women's tennis team picked up an important 5-4 Centennial Conference win over visiting Dickinson this afternoon at Schottland Tennis Center. The Shorewomen, ranked 13th in the Atlantic South region, improved to 8-5 overall and 4-2 in conference matches with the win, while the Red Devils dropped to 3-7 and 2-4 with the loss.

Washington College 5, Dickinson 4

Doubles
- Madelein Kuhns-Baione and Lydia Fox gave the Red Devils an early 1-0 lead with an 8-2 win against Mariah Thomas and Kiran Pant at No. 3.
- The Shorewomen evened the score with an 8-3 win at No. 1 by Julie Lazer and Rachel Martinez against Joana Nunes and Madison Parks.
- Washington grabbed a 2-1 lead after doubles thanks to Krista Filiopoulos and MP Hubert downing Lauren Altschuler and Olivia Shea, 8-6, at No. 2.

Singles
- Hubert upped the advantage to 3-1 with her 6-1, 6-1, victory against Shea at No. 4. Martinez then added a 6-3, 6-0, win over Parks at No. 2 to give Washington a 4-1 lead.
- Lazer clinched the match win with a 6-2, 6-2, victory against Altschuler at No. 1.
- Dickinson's first singles win was a 6-3, 6-2, triumph for Nunes over Filiopoulos at No. 3. Kuhns-Baione then added a 6-1, 6-0, victory against Pant at No. 5 and Fox recorded a 6-1, 6-0, win over Thomas at No. 6.
