Shoremen's 8-1 Win Over Bullets Clinches Conference Tournament Spot

GETTYSBURG, Pa. — The Washington College men's tennis team clinched a spot in the upcoming five-time Centennial Conference Tournament with an 8-1 conference win over host Gettysburg this afternoon. The Shoremen, ranked 20th in the Atlantic South region, improved to 11-4 overall and 5-2 in conference matches with the win. The Bullets fell to 4-8 and 1-5 with the loss.

Doubles
- Gettysburg's only point of the match came at No. 1 doubles as Kevin Maier and Rob Sharpe defeated Chris Salisbury and Jake Sandler, 8-6.
- Justin Panepinto and Zack Novick were 8-4 winners for the Shoremen at No. 2 against Christian Descapelles and Nick D'Amore, while Luke Weaver and Matthew Katz topped Kevin DeRosa and Devin McVeigh, 8-6, at No. 3.

Singles
- The Shoremen won all six singles spots in straight sets. Salisbury topped Deschapelles, 6-2, 7-6(5), at No. 1, Sandler beat DeRosa, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 2, and Weaver downed D'Amore, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 3 in the top half of the line-up.
- Zack Novick beat Maier, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 4, August Meriot defeated Max Nickel, 7-6(2), 6-1, at No. 5, and Panepinto beat Alex Fleischman, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 6, to round out singles play.

Notes
- The 11 wins for the Shoremen this season are their most since going 12-6 in 2010.
- The Shoremen have now qualified for the Centennial Conference Tournament nine times in the tournament's 12-year history, but this will be the Shoremen's first tournament appearance in three years.
