Adams Scores His First Collegiate Goal and Hands Out First Career Assist For Washington

DOVER, Del. – Visiting Washington College jumped out to a 3-0 halftime lead on its way to a 4-1 win over host and Delmarva rival Wesley at Drass Field at Scott D. Miller Stadium on Tuesday evening in a non-conference men's soccer match.  The four goals are a season high for the Shoremen as the squad beat the Wolverines on their home pitch for the first time in 10 years.

How It Happened
- The Shoremen broke onto the scoreboard at the 36:38 mark of the first half as Sean Garin gained possession of the ball in the box and found Evan Savoth who scored his third goal in the last three matches.  For Garin it was his first WC assist and point.
- WC made it 2-0 just 1:59 later when off of a throw-in by Greg Adams, James Strine got the ball and scored his first collegiate goal.  Adams notched his first collegiate assist and point on the score. 
- Adams would score his first career goal with 95 ticks left in the first half as stole a Wesley clearing attempt and his shot from the top left of the 18 was blasted into the lower right side of the goal to give the guests a 3-0 lead into halftime.
- The Wolverines got onto the board with 34:25 left in the second half on a penalty kick goal into the lower left by Chimaboi Ikwuagwu following a trip in the box by the Shoremen defender.
- Washington extended its lead to 4-1 with a penalty kick goal of its own following a foul in the box by Wesley.  Christian Keller successfully converted the penalty kick to put the Shoremen back ahead by three to provide the final margin.

For The Shoremen (2-5-0)
- Scoring: Adams (1 goal, 1 assist), Keller (1 goal), Savoth (1 goal), Strine (1 goal), Garin (1 assist)
- Goalkeeper: Gavin Campbell (3 saves, 1 goal allowed, 90:00)
- Washington had 27 shots and took all 10 corner kicks in the match.

For Wesley (1-8-0)
- Scoring: Ikwuagwu (1 goal)
- Goalkeeper: Jake Price (8 saves, 4 goals allowed, 90:00)
- The Wolverines took seven shots in the contest.

Notes
- Washington won in Dover for the first time since a 3-1 win over Wesley on October 16, 2007, ending a losing streak of three at Wesley.
- The Shoremen downed the Wolverines for the second straight year as the Shoremen won 2-0 in Chestertown last season on September 21, 2016.
- Both of Washington's wins this season have come against Delmarva schools as last Wednesday Washington snapped a 16-match losing streak to Salisbury in double overtime, 3-2.
