Barry McCormick and Lewis Each Score 13 Points to Lead WC; Marshall Grabs 11 Boards

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Host Haverford used a 22-3 second half run to take control of the game on its way to a 77-57 win over visiting Washington College on Wednesday night in a Centennial Conference men's basketball game at Gooding Arena.  The Fords and Shoremen are both 7-9 overall and 3-6 in the Centennial.

How It Happened
- Washington jumped out to a 10-6 lead just over seven minutes into the game on a Dallas Marshall layup.
- The Fords would score 15 of the next 21 points to take a 21-16 lead with 6:11 remaining on a Joe Scibelli layup.
- Barry McCormick would can a jumper to beat the buzzer to trim the Haverford lead to 25-22 at halftime as neither side led by more than five points in the opening 20 minutes.
- In the second half, Washington scored 10 of the first 12 points to take a 32-27 lead with 17:13 left on a Marshall lay-in.
- Trailing 34-29 following an Alec Lewis layup with 16:43 remaining, the host Fords went on a 22-3 run, including 15 straight points to end the run.  The run was capped by two Jesse Turkson free throws with 10:48 remaining to give the hosts a 51-37 lead.
- The closest Washington would get the rest of the way was 10 points at 51-41 following back-to-back layups by Josh Porteous with 9:48 left.    

For The Shoremen (7-9, 3-6 CC)
- Barry McCormick and Lewis (13 points), Marshall (11 rebounds), Tray Wright (two steals)
- The Shoremen shot 30% (20-for-67) from the floor, 12% (2-for-17) from three-point range and 75% (15-for-20) from the foul line. 
- Washington had 19 turnovers in the contest. 
- WC outscored Haverford in fast-break points (6-4) and second chance points (9-8).

For Haverford (7-9, 3-6 CC)
- Scibelli (game-best 23 points and 11 rebounds for double-double; two blocks), Jonathan Lang (15 points), Turkson (12 points and two blocks), Kahlil Garnes (five assists to lead all players), Jack Cork and Joe Hartman (two blocks)
- The Fords shot 43% (26-for-60) from the floor, 33% (6-for-18) from three-point range and 76% (19-for-25) from the free throw stripe. 
- Haverford outrebounded Washington, 45-42.
- The Fords had 19 turnovers in the game.
- Haverford outscored Washington in points in the paint (30-28) and points off turnovers (20-15).

- Both teams scored 25 bench points.
