Bears Use Big Fourth Quarter to Prevail over Shorewomen, 67-55

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Host Ursinus used a 12-0 run spanning the third and fourth quarters to turn a 48-43 deficit into a 55-48 lead to come away with a 67-55 win against visiting Washington College on Thursday evening at Helfferich Hall in Centennial Conference women's basketball action.  The Bears are now 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the Centennial, while the Shorewomen fall to 4-1 and 1-1 respectively.

How It Happened
- Washington scored the game's first five points following a three-pointer by Crystal Jones 1:42 into the first quarter.  Cassidy Quattro would give Washington its biggest lead of the first on a three-point play with 2:41 to go to give the Shorewomen a 17-10 lead.  The Bears would score the last six points of the first to trail 17-16 after one. 
- Trailing 31-27 with 2:39 remaining in the second quarter, the Shorewomen scored eight straight points to take a 35-31 lead with 17 ticks left following a three-pointer by Emily HelmsMaya Kornfeld would trim the WC to two at halftime, 35-33, as she made a jumper with two ticks left. 
- Down 43-42 in the third quarter, Washington got back-to-back three-pointers from Caitlyn Clark and Emilee Cramer respectively to take a 48-43 with 2:19 to go.  However Ursinus would score the final five points of the third to tie the game at 48-48 with Lydia Konstanzer knotting the game up on a jumper with six seconds remaining.
- Ursinus continued its run into the fourth quarter as they scored seven straight points to turn a 48-48 tie into a 55-48 lead with 7:50 to go on a Gabby Downs layup.  The closest Washington would get it the rest of the way was six points with 3:57 to go when Bridget McLaughlin converted a bunny to cut the lead to 58-52 as the Bears outscored the Shorewomen in the fourth, 19-7.

For The Shorewomen (4-1, 1-1 CC)
- Quattro and Cramer (team-high 12 points each), McLaughlin (11 points and squad-best five rebounds), Madeline Williams (three assists), Taylor Samuels (career-best and game-high four blocks)
- Washington shot 37% from the field (19-for-51), 39% from three-point range (7-for-18) and 83% from the foul line (10-for-12) 
- Washington had 13 turnovers in the contest.
- The Shorewomen held a 21-8 advantage in bench points. 

For Ursinus (2-2, 1-0 CC)
- Konstanzer (15 points and game-best 12 rebounds), Aliyah Stephens (contest-highs of 17 points and two steals), Konfeld (16 points and two steals to tie for tops in game)
- The Bears totaled a 24-8 advantage in points off of turnovers, 2-0 in transition points and 36-32 in points in the paint.
- Ursinus shot 45% from the field (27-for-60), 13% from behind the arc (1-for-8) and 55% from foul line (12-for-22). 
- Ursinus outrebounded Washington 45-28 and outscored the guests in points in the paint (38-18), fast-break points (9-3), second chance points (14-4) and points off turnovers (16-9)
- The Bears had just 10 turnovers in the win.

Notes
- Quattro's brother, Zach, played for the men's basketball team at Ursinus from 2016-18.
