Bennett Wins Game-Best Eight Draws; Brenner Notches Team-High Three Scores

SALISBURY, Md. – Host #5 Salisbury built a 9-3 halftime lead on its way to a 15-8 win over visiting Washington College in a non-conference women's lacrosse game on Saturday afternoon at Sea Gull Stadium between the Eastern Shore institutions.  The Sea Gulls improve to 4-1 overall, while the Shorewomen fall to 1-2.

How It Happened
- Julie Talbert scored the game's first two goals for Salisbury to give the hosts a 2-0 lead 5:27 into the game.
- After Lauren Brenner cut the lead to 2-1 with 23:51 remaining in the first half, the Sea Gulls scored the next three to push their lead to 5-1 with 19:59 left in the half on a Taylor Poore score.
- Brenner trimmed it to 5-2 with 16:48 to go in the half before Salisbury netted three in a row to lead 8-2 with 6:41 left as Emma Skoglund scored the second of her back-to-back goals.
- Aubrey Robinson scored exactly one minute later to reduce the lead to 8-3, but Poore netted a free position goal with 4:39 left to cap the opening half scoring and gave the hosts a 9-3 advantage at halftime.
- The Sea Gulls outscored the Shorewomen, 6-5, in the second half with Sydney Allender scoring her first career goal for Washington with 6:21 remaining from Cecily Docktor to cut Salisbury's edge to 14-8.

- In Goal: Isabella Richardson (60:00, four saves, 15 goals; three ground balls)
- Anna Bennett (game-best eight draw controls to go along with two caused turnovers)
- Colleen Keefe (three ground balls), Catherine Keirn (two caused turnovers)
- WC went 15-for-19 in clears, went 3-for-6 in free position shots and had 14 ground balls.

For #5 Salisbury (4-1)
- Scoring: Talbert (four goals), Poore (three scores), Alexis Strobel (one goal and three assists), Skoglund and Gabby Mongno (two goals), Lindsey Wagner (goal and helper)
- In Goal: Skye Graham (40:16, four saves, six goals), Jasmin Hall (11:31, three saves, one goal), Mary Claire Hisle (8:13, zero saves, one goal)
- Courtney Fegan (five draw controls), Anna Wheland (five ground balls and three caused turnovers), Kendall Bannan (three caused turnovers)
- Salisbury outshot Washington, 26-20, and had 16 ground balls.
- The Sea Gulls went 17-for-19 in clears and had one fewer turnover than WC, 17-16.
- Salisbury went 1-for-3 in free position chances and won the draw controls, 14-11.

Notes
- Bennett was one off her career-high for draw controls as she won nine on April 25, 2018 versus Swarthmore.
