Shorewomen Fall at #25 Gettysburg, 83-53

GETTYSBURG, Pa. — The Washington College women's basketball team fell at #25 ranked Gettysburg, 83-53, in a Centennial Conference contest on Saturday afternoon at Bream Gymnasium.

How It Happened
- Gettysburg, who have won 14 straight contests, raced out to a 16-4 advantage after a layup by Kiera Cesareo at the 3:43 mark of the opening quarter.  The Bullets hit seven of their first 11 shots from the floor to open the game.
- Bridget McLaughlin swished a triple coming out of a timeout to bring the Shorewomen within 16-7 with 3:43 remaining in the quarter.
- Trailing 18-7, Crystal Jones converted a floater along the right baseline and then hit a pair from the charity stripe to bring the visitors within 18-11, however, Gettysburg scored the final eight points of the stanza to claim a 26-11 advantage.  
- The hosts widened their lead to 29-11 as Christina Richson hit a three-pointer to open the second quarter but Emily Helms answered with a trifecta in transition, and drained another bomb from the right wing to make it 29-17 with 8:07 left.
- The Shorewomen continued to cut into the lead as Jones followed with a trey of her own from the right corner to bring Washington within 29-20 with 6:23 left.  However, that was as close as Washington would get for the remainder of the contest as the hosts went on a 12-2 run to expand their lead to 41-22 advantage with 3:28 left before intermission.
-  Tori Yantsos later provided Gettysburg with their largest lead of the quarter at 48-27 after making a pair from the line but Helms connected on a triple from the right wing with a second left in the half.  Helms and Jones each scored 11 points in the stanza as they combined to go 8-for-12 from the floor.
- The Bullets went 9-for-14 (64.3 percent) from behind the arc in the half.
-  Washington managed to inch within 50-35 early in the third quarter as Cassidy Quattro scored inside, however, they were unable to get any closer.  Gettysburg outscored the Shorewomen by a 17-5 margin to take a commanding 67-40 lead after three quarters and went on for the win.

For the Shorewomen (6-10 Overall, 3-8 Centennial Conference)
- Jones (seven rebounds) paced Washington with 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting.
- Helms went 3-for-5 from beyond the arc to finish with nine points while McLaughlin added eight points.
- Emilee Cramer had seven points and five caroms.
- The Shorewomen shot 30.5 percent (18-of-59) overall, were 9-of-23 (39.1 percent) from long-range and went 8-of-10 from the foul line.
- Washington outscored the Bullets by a 30-18 margin inside the paint.

For Gettysburg (14-1 Overall, 10-0 Centennial Conference)
- Four players were in double-figures led by Ashley Gehren, who recorded 16 points on 7-of-12 shooting.
- Carly Rice scored 14 points and was 4-of-6 from downtown. Cesareo and Mackenzie Tinner each added 12 points.
- The Bullets tied a program record with 14 three-point field goals
- The hosts shot 46 percent (29-for-63) overall, went 14-of-25 (56 percent) from long-distance and were 11-for-14 (78.6 percent) from the stripe.
