Box Score

Highlights

Chestertown, Md. – Senior forward Eric Gwadz scored a pair of goals to lift the host Washington College Shoremen to a 2-1 victory over the No. 24 ranked Swarthmore Garnet, in a crucial Centennial conference contest at Roy Kirby Jr., Stadium on Wednesday evening. The Shoremen improve to 9-4-1 (4-2-1, C.C.) while the Garnet drop to 9-3-2 (4-2-1, C.C.). Washington College is now in a four-way tie for second-place in the conference standings with two games remaining.

How It Happened
- The Shoremen stunned the visitors with a tally just twenty-three seconds into the contest. Senior forward Greg Adams sent a header to a streaking Gwadz on the left side and the striker knocked the ball over the head of charging Garnet keeper Max Kral into the center of the net.
- Gwadz gave the hosts a critical insurance goal with just under twenty-five minutes left in the contest after coming away with a steal at center midfield. Gwadz then dribbled through three defenders straight down the middle of the field and beat a sliding Kral with a low shot into the lower right-corner of the net.
- Swarthmore sophomore defender Matthew Loreg headed in a corner-kick off the foot of junior midfielder Sean Nolan to cut the lead in half with just over 11 minutes left.
