Box Score Chestertown, Md - The Washington College field hockey team was defeated by the No. 2 ranked Johns Hopkins Blue Jays, 5-0, in a Centennial Conference match on Wednesday even on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby Jr. Stadium. The Shorewomen fall to 6-10 (2-7 C.C.) while the Blue Jays improve their mark to 16-0 (9-0 C.C.).
How It Happened
- Junior forward Sadie Abboud gave the visitors all the scoring they would need just 3:42 into the contest as she took a centering pass from senior forward Maddie Brown-Scherer and put in the game-winner into the lower right-corner past keeper Sasha Dennis.
- Senior forward Izzy Thompson scored the first of two straight goals just over three minutes into the second quarter to give Johns Hopkins a 2-0 advantage. The goal resulted after a scrum following a cross and Thompson was then able to stuff it in.
- Thompson struck again just over a minute later as she put in another winner from point-blank range following an initial save by Shorewomen keeper Ava Rivera, who replaced Dennis after the second goal.
- Freshman midfielder Ava Balacek made it 4-0 with an unassisted tally 7:08 into the third quarter. Balacek carried the ball into the circle and put a shot through the legs of Rivera, who was screened on the play.
- Junior defender Anna Scott scored the final goal of the evening off a penalty corner from Abboud. Scott sent a rocket from the top of the circle into the left corner of the cage past Rivera.

Notes
- Rivera was named the Goose Nation TV Player of the game after coming in to replace Dennis in the second quarter. It was her first action since the conference opener against McDaniel on September 29.
- Kate Gromacki had three defensive saves and Tatum Schatt had one for WC.
- The Shorewomen played their final home contest of the season.
