LANCASTER, Pa. – #18 Franklin & Marshall scored twice in just over a minute early in the fourth quarter to break open a 1-0 lead on its way to a 3-0 win over visiting Washington College in a Centennial Conference field hockey game on Saturday afternoon at Tylus Field. The Diplomats improve to 5-6 overall and 1-3 in the Centennial on the year, while the Shorewomen drop to 5-5 and 1-3 respectively.

How It Happened
- Franklin & Marshall took 13 shots and earned eight penalty corners in the first quarter, but could not dent the scoreboard as they hit two posts in the first 3:50 of the game and Washington goalie Sasha Dennis stopped five shots.
- The Diplomats would get on the board with 4:51 left in the second quarter as Carolina Riley put F&M ahead 1-0 as her shot was deflected by a WC defender and floated into the goal on the hosts' 18th shot.
- Maddie Knight had Washington's first shot with 3:36 left in the second, but it was blocked by F&M as the hosts took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
- F&M took three shots in the third quarter, but the WC defense held them off the scoreboard to keep it a one-goal game entering the fourth quarter.
- In the fourth quarter, the Diplomats would pull away with two goals in 61 seconds to grab a 3-0 advantage. Erin Corrigan made it 2-0 on a pass from Amelia McCarthy at the 49:13 mark and at 50:14, Avery Niedland finished a crossing pass from Darby Klopp to extend the lead to three.
- Cristen Quillen nearly got Washington on the board with 8:35 left, but Alison McCarey registered a defensive save to keep the Shorewomen off the board.
- Kate Gromacki had WC's last shot with 7:57 to go in the game, but Sydney Lippe stopped the shot for F&M.
