Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

CHESTERTOWN, (Md.) – Junior outfiielder Alyssa Vieira's two-out single in the bottom of the seventh inning gave the host Washington College Shorewomen a 3-2, come-from-behind victory in the opening game of a doubleheader against the Rowan Profs on Thursday afternoon. The Profs took the nightcap by a score of 3-0 in six innings as the game was called early (darkness). The victory in the opener provided Sally Snover with her first career triumph as a head coach of the Shorewomen. Freshman Lexi Barnhart was outstanding on the mound and recorded her first collegiate victory.

Washington College 3 Rowan 2 (Game 1)

How It Happened
- The visitors got on the board in the top of the fifth inning to break a pitchers' duel between Barnhart and Rowan's Emily August. Third baseman Payton MacNair executed an RBI bunt single, scoring pinch runner Sam Marasheski with the first run. First baseman Mackenzie Short singled up the middle to lead-off the frame. Marasheski then advanced to third after second baseman Sonia Sharma put down a sacrfice bunt.

- Rowan increased their lead in the top of the seventh as MacNair delivered a two-out RBi infield single to make it 2-0. Right fielder Mariah Wysocki opened the inning with a booming double to left field and advanced to third on a wild pitch with one out.

- Washington College entered the final inning with just one base hit against August, however, the Shorewomen exploded for three runs on four hits to shock the Profs in their final at bat. First baseman Rachel DiMarcello reached first on a fielding error by shortstop Breanna Bryant to lead-off the inning. Center fielder Grace Moery followed with a sharp knock up the middle to move pinch runner Lizzie Hudock over to second. Following a strikeout, freshman third baseman Hannah Solge came through with a clean single to left to load the bases for second baseman Amelia Mazza. Mazza promptly delivered a clutch two-run single to left center, evening the game at 2-2. The hit chased August from the game as Alexa Saccomanno came on in relief. Saccomanno recorded the second out of the inning but then uncorked a wild pitch as Mazza and Solge advanced to second and third. That set the stage for Vieira who struck a sharp single through the left side to plate Solge with the walk-off run.
