Washington College 4 Stevenson 2
How It Happened
- Meghan Huey would give the Mustangs the early lead as her shot from the right side found the cage to put Stevenson ahead 1-0 with 3:59 to go in the opening quarter.
- The lead was short lived as the Shorewomen tied the game just 1:53 later on the first career goal for Zoe Shevitz. Shevitz was near the left post as she finished off a pass from Anna Harrington to knot the game at 1-1 and that was the score at the end of one quarter.
- Washington took a 2-1 lead with 5:02 remaining in the second quarter as the pass from outside the circle by Julianna Sterling was tipped in from about seven yards out by Kat Esposito and that would be the halftime score.
- Stevenson would tie the game with 3:02 left in the third quarter as the long pass from Macy Kosanovich was received by Kaitlin Karns. Karns would get around Washington goalie Ava Rivera and put the ball past a WC defender to level contest at 2-2.
- Maddie Knight would answer just 1:48 later as she gathered the loose ball off of a blocked shot and scored from the right side to put WC ahead for good at 3-2 with 1:14 left in the third. (Watch)
