Women's Basketball Cruises Against Shorthanded Bryn Mawr

Shorewomen Hold Owls to Just Three Total Field Goals

CHESTERTOWN, Md. - - - Junior guard Andrea Prestianne scored a game-high 17 points and the Washington College Shorewomen held Bryn Mawr to just three total field goals in a 69-16 Centennial Conference triumph on Tuesday evening at Penny J. Fall Gym. Washington College, winners of four straight, improved to 10-3 overall and 6-2 in the conference while the Owls fell to 4-7 (0-7 C.C).

How It Happened
- The Shorewomen led 26-3 after the first quarter and never looked back. Junior guard Crystal Jones completed a 12-0 run over the first 4:06 of the game with a trifecta, and forced the Owls to call a timeout.
- Bryn Mawr's Jessica Smith hit a jumper to make it 12-2 at the 5:33 mark, however, the hosts outscored Bryn Mawr by a 14-1 count to finish the stanza. 
- Washington College knocked down four triples in the first ten minutes, which included the first career long-distance bomb by freshmen guard Avery Thomas.
- The Shorewomen led by as many as 29 points in the second quarter before Ella Kotsen and Smith hit back-to-back treys to trim the deficit to 35-12 with 2:31 left before halftime.
- The hosts settled for a 39-12 advantage and completely put the game out of reach in the third quarter by blanking Bryn Mawr by an 18-0 margin.

For The Shorewomen
- Prestianne went 8-for-15 from the floor and added five rebounds, five assists and three steals.
- Junior forward Lizzie Hudock added 14 points and eight rebounds.
- Sophomore center Serena Pluta contributed nine points and seven rebounds.
- Jones finished with eight points, seven caroms and five assists.
- Washington shot 37.8 percent overall (28-of-74), made 4-of-17 3's (23.5 percent) and were 9-of-16 from the line (56.3 percent).

For the Owls
- Smith paced the team with six points, seven boards and a game-high four steals.
- Sonja Meijer contributed six rebounds.
- The Owls were 3-for-43 from the field for a seven percent rate. They made 2-of-17 from long-distance (11.8 percent) and were 8-for-16 from the line.
- Bryn Mawr dressed just seven players in the contest.

- The game at Swarthmore on Thursday has been postponed. The Shorewomen will travel to Muhlenberg on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
