Box Score Prestianne Scores Seven Of Her Team-High 16 Points In OT

Allentown, Pa. – The visiting Washington College Shorewomen scored the final 14 points in overtime to win their fourth straight contest, defeating the Muhlenberg Mules by a score of 73-61 on Monday evening. The win gave the Shorewomen (16-8, 12-7 Centennial Conference) a program-record for league victories and the team moved into fourth-place in the standings with one game remaining. The Mules fell to 10-13 overall and 6-12 in the conference. Washington is now 4-0 in overtime contests this season.
How It Happened
- Muhlenberg jumped out to an 8-2 lead midway through the first quarter but the Shorewomen outscored the hosts by a 9-2 margin to close out the quarter. Junior guard Joy Sanders came off the bench and hit a jumper from the right-corner at the 3:51 mark to ignite the burst.
- Washington evened the game at 10-10 with 2:22 left as junior guard Andrea Prestianne found freshman forward Kiersten Rose wide open for an uncontested layup. Prestianne then gave the visitors the lead with a free throw with 36 ticks left.
- Senior guard Crystal Jones opened the second quarter with a trey from the left-wing to give Washington a 14-10 advantage at the 9:34 mark.
- The hosts were within 18-17 after Emily Vaughan's left-wing trifecta at the 6:58 mark, however Jones followed with a turnaround jumper in the lane and Prestianne sank two free throws to provide the Shorewomen with a 22-17 edge at the 6:13 mark.
- Washington expanded their lead to 28-21 after Prestianne intercepted a pass and went coast-to-coast for a layup with 2:49 on the clock.
- The Shorewomen settled for a 32-24 advantage at the intermission after freshman forward Karry Kelliher came up with a steal and pull-up jumper with 22 seconds left in the stanza.
- Jones converted a driving layup to give the visitors their largest lead of regulation, 34-24, with 9:20 left in the third quarter.
- The Mules responded with an 11-4 spurt to trim the deficit to 38-35 at the 4:19 mark. Sara Peretti capped the stretch with a foul line jumper and then made a pair of free throws.
- Muhlenberg closed to within 42-40 with 1:35 left in the third quarter as Margaux Eripret converted 3-of-4 free throws on back-to-back possessions.
- The Shorewomen scored the final three points of the quarter as Rose hit 1-of-2 from the line and completed a nifty post move layup with 37 ticks left.
- The hosts evened the contest at 45 apiece as Emily Vaughan opened the fourth quarter with a driving layup and a 3-pointer from the left-wing.
- Muhlenberg took their first lead since the first quarter, 51-50, when Caroline Horst converted a layup off a fast break opportunity with 2:27 left in regulation.
- Junior forward Lizzie Hudock answered with a clutch 3-point play as she scored inside at the 2:10 mark to restore the lead at 53-51.
- Tara Szawaluk, who had misfired on her first nine treys, swished a trifecta from the tip of the circle to give the Mules a 54-53 edge with just 50 seconds left. However, Hudock came up big yet again as she was left all alone for a right-wing jumper to put her team up one with 38 ticks left.
- Eripret then tied the game at 55-55 as she made 1-of-2 from the line with 20 seconds left.
- The Shorewomen were gifted two free throws with seven seconds left and Prestianne knocked them both down to spot the visitors a 57-55 lead. The hosts, however, sent the game into overtime as Amanda Gorski beat the buzzer with a put-back layup.
- Muhlenberg led 61-59 after Eripret swished a long jumper from the right-corner with four minutes remaining but the Shorewomen blanked the hosts the rest of the way and won going away.
- Prestianne gave the Shorewomen the lead for good, 62-61, after sticking a left-wing triple at the 3:50 mark. She then kissed a runner in the lane off the glass with three minutes on the clock for a 64-61 edge.
- Sophomore center Serena Pluta followed with a layup, Prestianne delivered two free throws, and Pluta made another layup to make it 71-61 with just over a minute left.
- Sanders put the finishing touches on the victory with a layup off a sweet feed from Prestianne.
For the Shorewomen
- Prestianne (team-high 16 points) went 3-for-14 from the field but was 9-for-10 from the line and scored seven clutch points in overtime. She added nine boards, five assists , and 3 steals in 31 minutes.
- Sanders added 15 points (7-of-13 fga) and five caroms in 16 minutes off the bench
- Jones finished with 13 points (6-of-16 fga) and five rebounds.
- Hudock was also in double-figures with 10 points and added eight boards.
- Rose had a strong performance with 8 points and 8 caroms in 29 minutes off the bench.
For the Mules
- Eripret registered a team-high 17 points and pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds.
- Gorski added 15 points (7-of-14 fga) and 5 boards in 31 minutes.
- Vaughan and Horst were also in double-figures with 10 points each.
Notes
- Fifth-place Dickinson is a half a game behind the Shorewomen as they are 11-7 with two games remaining. Swarthmore is 9-8 with three games remaining on their schedule.
- Washington is 4-0 in OT contests this season.

The Shorewomen will host Senior Day on Saturday against Muhlenberg at 2:00 p.m with an opportunity to qualify for the Centennial Tournament.
