Box Score 2 Washington Wins Game One, 7-0, and Captures Game Two, 2-0
CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Host Washington College held visiting Ursinus to zero runs in 14 innings of action on Saturday afternoon in a Centennial Conference softball doubleheader at Washington College Softball Field. The Shorewomen pounded out 14 hits in a 7-0 win in game one and held off the Bears in game two, 2-0. The Shorewomen are 12-11 overall and 6-2 in the conference, while the Bears are 14-13 overall and 2-6 in the Centennial.
Washington College 7 Ursinus 0 (Game 1)
How It Happened
- Washington took control of the game with a two-run bottom of the first inning, both runs coming with one out. Lexi Barnhart helped her own cause with a base hit to right field to score Hannah Solge for the game's opening run and the next hitter, Megan Robbins, singled through the right side to plate Alyssa Vieira to make it 2-0.
- With one out in the bottom of the third, Robbins hit a sacrifice fly to right-center that drove in Alexa Draper to give the hosts a three-run advantage.
- In the bottom of the fourth, Washington added two runs on a pair of infield singles with two away to extend the lead to 5-0. Chloe Trefz scored on a base hit to shortstop by Lexie Witmer to make it 4-0 and Solge came home on a single to third base by Vieira to extend the lead to five runs.
- Washington tacked on two more runs in the last of the sixth to provide the final margin.
For The Shorewomen (11-11, 5-2 CC)
- Hitting: Vieira (4-for-4, two RBI), Solge (2-for-3, three runs), Trefz (2-for-3, two runs), Robbins (2-for-3, two RBI), Witmer (2-for-3, RBI)
- Pitching: Barnhart (win 5-7, complete game shutout, five hits, zero walks, four strikeouts)
- Washington committed one error in game one, leading to zero Ursinus runs.
- The Shorewomen had 14 hits and drew two walks in the game, while leaving six on base.
For Ursinus (14-12, 2-5 CC)
- Hitting: Mackenzie Brennan (2-for-3), Sam Williams (2-for-3)
- Pitching: Alexis Miller (loss 3-7, nine hits, five runs, five earned, two walks, three strikeouts)
- Ursinus had zero errors in the opener.

Notes
- Vieira was named the Goose Nation TV Shorewoman Player of the Game.
- Washington swiped a season-high eight stolen bases in the game one win. It is the most steals for the Shorewomen in a game since stealing seven on March 6, 2005 versus Davis & Elkins.
Washington College 2 Ursinus 0 (Game 2)
How It Happened
- In the last half of the first with nobody out, Vieira hit a sacrifice fly centerfield that chased in Solge to put the Shorewomen ahead 1-0.
- Ursinus loaded the bases with two outs in the top of the fourth, but Washington pitcher Gen Kozub got Jordan Moore to groundout to Solge at third base to end the threat.
- The Bears had runners on second and third with one away in the top of the sixth when Samantha Mallen hit a groundball that got past Solge, but Trefz was able to field deep in the hole at shortstop. On the play, Sarah DiLello tried to score from third, but Trefz's throw to Witmer at the plate was in time and Witmer tagged out DiLello to preserve the one-run lead.
- After a walk to the next hitter Moore loaded the bases with two outs, Kozub got Ally St. Jean to hit a comebacker to end the threat.
- The Shorewomen loaded the bases with one out in the last of the sixth and Trefz was hit by the pitch which forced home Robbins to give WC an insurance run and a 2-0 lead.
- In the top of the seventh, Amanda Panati kept Ursinus' hopes alive with a two-out double to left-center, but Kozub got Williams to ground out to Solge at third for the final out of the game and twinbill.
For The Shorewomen (12-11, 6-2 CC)
- Hitting: Witmer (3-for-4), Robbins (2-for-3, run), Solge (2-for-4, run), Kozub (2-for-3)
- Pitching: Kozub (win 7-4, complete game shutout, nine hits, two walks, zero strikeouts)
- The Shorewomen had 10 hits in the game, drew zero walks and had a player get on by a hit by pitch as they left nine on base.
- WC had zero errors in the field.
For Ursinus (14-13, 2-6 CC)
- Hitting: Julia Eckels and Sara Sullivan (2-for-3), Williams (2-for-4)
- Pitching: Kayla McTamney (loss 5-5, complete game, 10 hits, two runs, two earned, zero walks, zero strikeouts)
- The Bears had nine hits and worked out two walks as they left nine on base.
- Ursinus committed zero errors in the field.
