Box Score Meng Chalks Up Win at No. 1 Singles Over Regionally Ranked Player for Washington
SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Host #27 Swarthmore, ranked eighth in the Atlantic South Region, downed visiting Washington College, ranked 20th in the region, 8-1, on Tuesday afternoon in Centennial Conference women's tennis action at the Michael Mullan Tennis Center.

Doubles
- The Garnet won at No. 2 doubles in the first match to conclude that was played as the tandem of Jenny Lewis and Daniella Pedron-Castillo won 8-1 over the Shorewomen's Bin Nguyen and Katie Ruppert.
- Swarthmore's tandem of Sonia Varma and Erica Stutz came away with an 8-4 victory over WC's duo of Irene Meng and Piper Sartison at No. 1 doubles.
- The hosts' pairing of Anna Miller and Sophie Brown were awarded the win at No. 3 doubles due to Washington not being able to field a combo.
Singles
- The Garnet's Pedron-Castillo got the win at No. 6 singles due to the Shorewomen not being able to field a player.
- Swarthmore clinched the match at No. 4 singles as Oviya Kumaran was leading María Cristina Diaz-Nazario 5-1 before Diaz-Nazario had to retire.
- No. 2 singles finished next and Nathalie Williams bested Sartison, 8-1.
- In a matchup of regionally ranked players at No. 1, Meng, ranked 24th in the Atlantic South, got the better of Lewis, ranked 19th in the region, 8-5, to get the Shorewomen on the board.
- Shortly after the Meng-Lewis match ended, Brown downed Nguyen, 8-4.
- In the last match to finish, Miller got past Ruppert, 8-5.
Notes
- The Shorewomen are 9-6 on the season, while the Garnet are 10-1. WC is 3-4 in the conference, while Swarthmore is 5-0 in the Centennial.
