Box Score 2 Washington Wins 6-0 in First Game and 6-4 in Second Contest
LANCASTER, Pa. – Visiting Washington College won both ends of a Centennial Conference doubleheader against host Franklin & Marshall on Thursday afternoon at Baker Campus Softball Field. The Shorewomen won via a 6-0 shutout in game one and scored five times in the last three innings to claim a 6-4 triumph in the second contest. The Shorewomen are now 16-11 overall and 8-2 in the Centennial, while the Diplomats are 15-17 overall and 2-10 in the conference. The Shorewomen have now won seven straight games with today's sweep and 11 of the last 12 against the Diplomats dating back to 2016.
Washington College 6 Franklin & Marshall 0 (Game 1)
How It Happened
- Kate Clement got a one out triple for Franklin & Marshall in the bottom of the first, but she was left stranded.
- Washington scored four times in the top of the second inning to grab a 4-0 lead. With one away, Lilly Cook scored on a passed for the game's first run during the Chloe Trefz at-bat. Two hitters later, Lexie Witmer singled to right to score Gen Kozub to make it 2-0. With two away, Lexi Barnhart drew a bases loaded walk to chase in Trefz for the third run and Hannah Solge scored the fourth and final run on a wild pitch.
- In the top of the sixth with two away, Megan Robbins singled to right to drive in both Witmer and Alyssa Vieira to give the Shorewomen a 6-0 lead.
- The Diplomats got a leadoff double in the bottom of the seventh by Kat Gunther to try to avoid the shutout, but could not score and the Shorewomen completed the shutout.
For The Shorewomen (15-11, 7-2 CC)
- Hitting: Witmer (2-for-3, run, RBI), Solge (three walks, run), Robbins (two RBI)
- Pitching: Lexi Barnhart (win 7-7, complete game shutout, four hits, three walks, two strikeouts)
- Washington committed zero errors in game one.
- The Shorewomen had five hits and drew nine walks in the game, while leaving nine on base.
For Franklin & Marshall (15-16, 2-9 CC)
- Hitting: Clement (2-for-2, walk)
- Pitching: Peightyn Schwartz (loss 6-9, 1 1/3 innings, three hits, four runs, two earned, four walks, zero strikeouts), Kayla Kilmer (5 2/3 innings, two hits, two runs, two earned, five walks, three strikeouts)
- Franklin & Marshall committed one error in the opener, leading to zero WC runs.
- The Diplomats had four hits and worked out three walks, while stranding five on base.

How It Happened
- The Shorewomen got an unearned run in the top of the first as Cook worked out a two-out bases loaded base on balls to score Witmer.
- F&M got its first run of the doubleheader in the last of the second when Hanna Maier socked a double to left field that scored Francesca Testa with two away.
- Alexa Klepper put the Diplomats ahead 3-1 with a one-out, two-run homer to left that scored Jamie Belfer in the bottom of the third.
- Washington got one back in the top of the fifth with two outs as Megan Robbins smacked a double to center to score Witmer to cut the lead to 3-2.
- After the first two were retired in the top of the sixth, the Shorewomen scored twice to take a 4-3 lead. Trefz scored on an infield hit to third by Solge and Solge would score on a wild pitch.
- In the last of the sixth, F&M tied the game at 4-4 on a two-out base hit to left by Belfer that chased home Jaden Springer.
- Cook would reach on a hit to center with one out and would steal second to get the go ahead run in scoring position. Maddy Kendall would put Washington ahead for good, 5-4, on a double to score Cook. Kendall would touch home on a wild pitch with two outs to give the visitors a two-run edge with three outs to go.
- The Diplomats would get the tying run to the plate in the last of the seventh following a one-out single up the middle by Kat Gunther, but a ground out and a strikeout ended the game and twinbill.
For The Shorewomen (16-11, 8-2 CC)
- Hitting: Witmer (3-for-3, two runs), Vieira (2-for-3), Trefz (three walks, run)
- Pitching: Barnhart (win 8-7, four innings, four hits, one runs, one earned, one walk, three strikeouts), Kozub (three innings, five hits, three runs, three earned, one walk, two strikeouts)
- The Shorewomen had nine hits in the game and drew six walks as they left nine on base.
- WC had zero errors in the field.
For Franklin & Marshall (15-17, 2-10 CC)

- The Diplomats had nine hits, worked out two walks and had two reach via hit by pitch as they left seven on base.
- Franklin & Marshall committed two errors in the field, leading to two unearned runs.
