Box Score 2 CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The host Washington College softball team was swept by the Gettysburg Bullets, 18-1 and 13-2, in a Centennial Conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. The Shorewomen fall to 16-13 (8-4 C.C.) while the Bullets improve to 16-12 (7-5 C.C.)

How It Happened
-Gettysburg scored five runs on four hits in the top of the first and never looked back. Catcher Elliana Hopple had the big blow as she took sophomore starter Lexi Barnhart deep for a grand slam over the center field fence.
- The visitors made it 9-0 in the second as first baseman Allegra DeCandia highlighted the frame with a three-run shot over the wall in center.
- Gettysburg put the game out of reach with five more runs in the third. Second baseman Lauren O'Leary mashed a three-run homer to center and Hopple added a two-run single.
- The Shorewomen scored their lone run in the bottom of the fourth as freshman Gen Kozub recorded an infield RBI single to score Barnhart (hit by pitch).
For the Shorewomen
Hitting
- Kozub went 1-for-3 with an RBI.
- Senior catcher Lexie Witmer finished 1-for-3.
- Freshman left fielder Lilly Cook recorded a single.
Pitching
- Barnhart allowed 14 earned runs over 3.0 innings to fall to 8-8. She allowed 11 hits, walked five and struck out a batter
For the Bullets
Hitting
- Hopple drove in 7 runs as she went 3-for-4 with a double and a homer.
- O'Leary was 2-for-4 (HR) and drove in 3 runs.
- DeCandia homered and went 2-for-2 with 3 RBI
- Third baseman Olivia Moser scored four runs and went 3-for-3 with a walk.
Pitching
-Paige Forry improved to 8-3 as she allowed just one run on three hits over 5.0 innings.
Game 2 (5 Innings), Gettysburg, 13, Shorewomen 2
- The Bullets struck first as Moser scored O'Leary with an RBI double.
- The red-hot Witmer put the Shorewomen ahead with a two-run bomb to left-center, her first of the season. Sophomore third baseman Hannah Solge led-off the frame with a single to left field.
- Gettysburg, however, answered right back with seven runs on six hits in the top of the second. O'Leary put the visitors ahead for good with a two-run single, Campana followed with another two-run single, Moser singled in a run, Decandia stroked a two-run double and Hopple added an RBI single.
- The visitors put the game away with four runs in the third to make it 12-2. Moser hit a three-run homer to left to highlight the inning.
For the Shorewomen
Hitting
- Witmer went 2-for-3 (2-run HR) and drove in both runs.
- Solge, senior center fielder Alyssa Vieira and Cook had a hit each.
Pitching
- Kozub allowed 10 earned runs on 13 hits to fall to 8-5.
For the Bullets
Hitting
- Moser went 3-for-3 (HR, 2B) with 4 RBI.
- O'Leary went 3-for-3 (HR), scored four runs, and drove in 3 more.
- Campana and DeCandis drove in 2 runs each.
Pitching
-Reliever Megan Hughes went 4.0 innings to get the win and did not allow a run

- Witmer is now 21-for-33 (.636) over her last nine games.
- Senior second baseman Megan Robbins was honored prior to today's games on Senior Day.
