Box Score VALENCIA, Pa. – Host #23 Carnegie Mellon won the final two singles matches at No. 5 and No. 6 to turn a 4-3 deficit into a 5-4 win over visiting Washington College at Lakevue Athletic Club on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference men's tennis match.

Doubles
- The Tartans won two of three in doubles to grab a 2-1 lead. In the first match to finish, Washington's duo of
Karl Hoegstedt and
Andre-Remi Jakobi at No. 1 doubles blanked the Tartans' tandem of
Nicholas Wernink and
Matthew Poh, 8-0. In the next match to finish, Carnegie Mellon's
Raahil Doshi and
Jaden D'Abreo bested
Christian Gruyon and
Landon Strober, 8-6, at No. 3. The last doubles match to conclude was at No. 2 as the hosts'
Derek Wong and
Akshay Joshi topped the Shoremen's
Jack Fanshawe and
Ryohei Kawai, 8-6.
Singles
- Strober tied the match at 2-2 as he 6-0, 6-3, over Doshi at No. 2 in the first singles match to finish.
- Hoegstedt gave the Shoremen a 3-2 advantage as he topped Wernink, 6-3, 6-2, at the top flight in the second singles to conclude. Hoegstedt is ranked 35th nationally and ninth in the Atlantic South region.
- Poh leveled the match at 3-3 at No. 4 with a 6-4, 6-3, win over Fanshawe.
- Jakobi made it 4-3 WC at No. 3 with a 6-2, 5-7, 6-2, win over
William Wang to give Washington a 4-3 lead.
- D'Abreo tied the match at 4-4 with a 6-4, 6-0, win over
Kohl Perkins at No. 6 singles.
- The match would come down to fifth singles and the Tartans' Joshi came away with a 6-1, 7-5, win over Kawai to give the hosts the win.Â
