CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Host Washington College took control of the game early with three goals in a span of 5:25 in the first quarter to take control of the game early in a 4-0 win over visiting Gwynedd Mercy in a non-conference field hockey game on Wednesday afternoon at Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Shorewomen improve to 4-3 on the season, while the Griffins drop to 0-5.

MaryCate Anson opened the scoring 4:38 into the game on an unassisted score as she came down the middle and scored from 10 yards out.

Samantha McMahon made it 2-0 exactly four minutes later on an assist from
Kendal Thomson as McMahon redirected a pass from Thomson on the right side of the circle.

Brynn Balliet completed the surge 85 seconds later with 4:57 to go in the first quarter as she lofted a shot over the head of the Gwynedd Mercy goalie,
Nikki Williams, from the right side with
Faye Dorman registering the helper.
- After scoreless second and third quarters,
Emma Campbell finished off a cross from
Natalie Watkinson at the left post with 9:42 to go in the fourth to push the lead to 4-0. It was Watkinson's first career assist and point and Campbell's first career score.
