PERTH AMBOY, N.J. – The Washington College sailing team traveled to New Jersey this weekend for the Princeton Fall Open on the Raritan River hosted by Princeton. The Shore Sailors finished third out of seven teams at the event.
Princeton Fall Open
- Washington placed fourth in the A Division with the trio of senior
Joseph Bonacci (races 1-3), sophomore
Austin Latimer (races 4-6) and senior
Hunter Ward (race 7) serving as the skippers and freshman
Dru Schimke-Goetz as the crew. The team totaled 29 points and had a second place finish in the fourth race. Drexel won the A Division with 14 points.
- The B Division was raced by freshman skipper
Imogene Nuss and on crew by a the tandem of sophomore
Nora Ciak (races 1-3) and freshman
Ethan Rower (races 4-7). The trio finished second with 16 points, just two behind first place Princeton, who had 14 points. Nuss, Ciak and Rower combined for five second place finishes and two third place results at the regatta.
- Host Princeton won the regatta with 34 points, one point better than second place Drexel that had 35 points. Washington earned third place with 45 points.
Notes
- All seven races were conducted on Saturday.
- The teams raced in shifting winds which made conditions challenging. Several races came down to the final moments.
