Softball Wins Two In Last Day Of Spring Break Action

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Kissimmee, FL. – Shoremen Softball wins out on their last day of play in the Sunshine State. The Shoremen outlasted Marywood 3-0 and Hood College 6-3. 

Game 1: Washington College 3 Marywood 0

How It Happened
  • Washington wasted no time and put themselves ahead of Marywood 2-0 in the bottom of the first. Hannah Solge and Julia Weglarz both got on base due to a walk. A Gracelyn Gofoth sacrifice bunt allowed Solge to run home and advanced Weglarz to second. An error from the first baseman right after allowed Weglarz to come home. 
  • Marywood had their only hit of the game in the top of the second and allowed Solge to score again in the bottom of the fourth after two errors advanced her home. 
  • The Shoremen ended the day with three singles and one double by Mia Mavoides to center field in the bottom of the fifth, and an easy 3-0 win over Marywood.

Game 2: Washington College 6 Hood 3 

How It Happened
  • A Hannah Solge double to left field got things started for the Shoremen. She was able to to run in as Lilly Cook grounded out to second. The Shoremen led 1-0 after the first inning. 
  • Lexi Barnhart doubles to center field her first at bat of the game. Next batter up, Neveah Unzueta lined a single to right field allowing Barnhart to run home. The Shoremen score once again off a Hood error putting them up 3-0.
  • Washington scored once more in the fourth as Lilly Cook doubled to center field allowing Solge, who had been walked two batters earlier, to cross home plate. 
  • Hood scored twice in the bottom of the fourth, once on a fielder's choice and once after Gottleib triples to right field. 
  • In the top of the fifth, the Shoremen scored once more after a line drive to center field by Chloe Trefz allowed Unzueta to run home after she and Sydney Skrzypiec's single put her in perfect scoring position. 
  • Hood scored their last goal of the game in the bottom of the fifth as H Cohen was able to score on a passed ball. The last score of the game came from Washington's Trefz scores thanks to a Julia Weglarz single on a ground ball. The Shoremen put the game away in the seventh winning 6-3.
