GREENWOOD, Ind. – Three Washington College softball players have been named to the 2023-24 CSC Academic All-District® for softball. Recent graduate, pitcher
Lexi Barnhart (West Grove, Pa./Avon Grove), rising senior, outfielder
Lilly Cook (Linthicum, Md./Glen Burnie) and rising junior, infielder
Jenna Harper (Kaneland, Ill./Sugar Grove) were selected to the Academic All-District® team by members of the College Sports Communicators (CSC).
Harper was named to the national ballot and will be eligible to be named a CSC All-America®, which will be announced on June 18.
The team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. To be on the team, a student-athlete must have a GPA (grade-point average) of at least 3.50 and is not rounded up. This is the second time Barnhart has been named to the team and the first for Cook and Harper.
Barnhart, who was named All-Centennial Conference first team and the Centennial's Co-Pitcher of the Year on May 13, helped the Shorewomen earn the top seed in the 2024 Centennial Conference Tournament this spring. She went 8-10 in the circle and hit .374 at the plate and is now a two-time all-conference honoree.
The recent graduate was a dual major in Data Science and Economics major and finished with a 3.922 grade-point average.
Cook garnered All-CC first team honors earlier this month and earned all-conference recognition for the first time. She hit a team-best .352 with two home runs and a squad-high 26 RBI to go along with a team-leading 37 hits and 10 doubles this spring.
The rising senior is a Sociology major and currently has a 3.628 grade-point average.
Harper was tabbed all-conference first team 17 days ago and is a two-time all-conference selection. This season she hit .348 with one home run and 21 RBI to go along with a team-topping .410 on-base percentage.
The rising junior has not declared a major and currently has a 3.638 grade-point average.
