CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The Washington College sailing team opened its 2024-25 slate with a second-place finish at the Central Series 1 regatta on Saturday on the Chester River. The Shore Sailors won the B Division and finished second in the A Division as the event consisted of seven teams. The two-day event concluded today as all seven round robin races were finished in one day.
Central Series 1
- In the B Division, freshman skipper
Imogene Nuss and crew
Lucy Sunderland led Washington to a first-place finish with 22 points, 11 points better than second place Princeton which had 33 points. The duo, competing in their first collegiate races, had three second place finishes.
- Sophomore skipper
Austin Latimer and sophomore crew
Nora Ciak guided the squad to a second-place finish in the A Division with 23 points, including four second place results. Princeton won the A Division with seven points as it won all seven races.
- Princeton won the event with 40 points, five points better than WC (45).
Notes
- The teams started with a wind from the south of 10 knots, before it shifted to the west then north at 15 knots with gusts during the afternoon.
