Chestertown, MD - The Washington College men's swimming team opens up competition on October 25 as it heads to Gettysburg to face Johns Hopkins, McDaniel, and host Gettysburg in a quad meet.
Last Season:
The Shoremen ended 7-6 last season, 2-4 in conference action. The team landed the fifth-place spot at the Centennial Conference Championships out of seven total teams. Nathan Rawa earned bronze in the 100-yard backstroke as the only returning medalist this season for the Shoremen. Shane Brace earned sixth in the 200-yard butterfly. Rawa, Mike Lee, and James Hackett were each on a relay team that came in sixth at the conference championships.
Returning for the Shoremen:
Senior Brace returns for the Shoremen for his fourth season at Washington College. Brace was a 2024 All-Centennial Conference Honorable Mention Honoree in the 200 butterfly.
Juniors Rawa and Hackett return for the Shoremen, both as captains as the squad. Rawa returns after earning All-Centennial Conference honorable mention in the 100 backstroke in 2025. Rawa also holds the school records in the 100 freestyle, butterfly, and backstroke. Hackett returns for the team after landing a place on the 2025 Centennial Conference Sportsmanship Team and was part of the team that earned the Washington College relay record in the 400 medley relay in 3:22.16.
From Head Coach James Koval:
"Despite graduating a talented and deep class of seniors, the Shoremen will have a strong season with plenty of new faces stepping up. First year, Jackson Rooney and Sophomore Niles Commodore have shown great signs in training, and junior captains Nathan Rawa and James Hackett have led by example both in and out of the water."
Key Meets:
The Shoremen will open up their fall schedule with a quad match between the tough conference opponents in Gettysburg, Johns Hopkins, and McDaniel. The Shoremen host their first meet against conference opponent, Swarthmore, on November 8 at 11 AM. They will host York the following weekend, November 15.
