Newport News, VA– The Washington College Sailing team traveled to the Webb Woolum Regatta hosted by Christopher Newport. The Shoremen and Shorewomen earned sixth of eight teams beating out the University of Delaware and William and Mary.
Saturday, October 4:
Light morning delayed racing for roughly an hour. Wind filled from the North East with 5 knots for some light racing until a lunch break after 4 races. After the break the wind increased to 7-10 knots out of the East. We were able to complete all 8 races by the end of the day Saturday.
Webb Woolum Regatta
- The Shoremen finished the regatta with 143 points sailing eight races. The A Division sailors earned 65 points with a first place finish in race four. The B Division sailors earned 78 points with a sixth place finish in race eight.
- For Division A, Alex Salzberg and Soledad Fintel served as skipper and crew. And for the B Division, George Wood served as skipper with Abby Wyman at crew.
