Freshman men's basketball player
Jon Nalty (Baltimore, Md./Calvert Hall)Â is this week's Shoreman of the Week. Nalty set career-bests in points, rebounds and steals in the team's win at Pratt Institute on Friday night
In a 62-51 win at Pratt Institute, Nalty set personal-bests of 25 points, seven rebounds and four steals as he was 9-for-12 from the floor and 5-for-6 from the foul line. He ignited a 16-0 run that saw the Shoremen turn a 20-13 deficit into a 29-20 lead as he scored the first 10 points of the run to give WC a 23-20 lead, a lead it would not give up the rest of the night, and capped the run with the first basket of the second half on a jumper in the first minute to give Washington a nine-point lead. In Washington's 79-65 win at Penn State Berks on November 24, the freshman grabbed six rebounds and tallied two steals. On Saturday in the team's 93-63 win at St. Joseph's (Brooklyn), he took just five shots, but scored seven points and added four rebounds and three assists as the Shoremen improved to 8-0 for the first time since the 1928-29 season when they opened 10-0..
This is Nalty's first career Shoreman of the Week honor.
