Isabella Sorhegui (Naples, Fla./Barron Collier) share this week's Shorewoman of the Week honor. Salvatierra and Sorhegui both helped their team to victories on Saturday.
Salvatierra scored a career-best six goals and tied her personal-best in points with eight in the Shorewomen's 24-7 season opening win over visiting Marywood on Saturday. Salvatierra scored the opening goal 18 seconds into the game and added her second 25 ticks later to put Washington ahead 3-0. The junior had two goals in the first quarter, three in the second and one in the third and one assist each in the second and fourth. The 24 goals ties a program record.
Sorhegui clinched Washington's 6-1 win over visiting Goucher in the opener of the spring portion of the slate on Saturday in No. 4 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win over
Shelby Meek. It was the Shorewomen's sixth straight victory over the Gophers dating back to 2001.
This is the second Shorewoman of the Week honor for both Salvatierra and Sorhegui.
