Chase Hensen - Shoreman of the Week

Senior men's swimmer Chase Hensen (Fredericksburg, Va./Colonial Forge) is this week's Shoreman of the Week. Henseb won gold medals in the both the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke events to highlight Washington College's performance at the 2025 Centennial Conference Swimming Championships, hosted by Franklin & Marshall held Thursday night through Sunday evening at McGinness Pool inside the Kunkel Aquatics Center. He was also helped set two school records at the championships.

Hensen won the gold medal in the 100-yard breaststroke on Saturday night with a program record time of 55.38, breaking his own mark of 56.03 set in the preliminary round on Saturday morning. He won the program's first gold medal since Gage Mandrell '23 shared the gold in the 200 backstroke in 2023 and the team's first outright gold since Andrew Feeley '21 (200 backstroke) in 2020. The senior joins Eric Burcin as the only two from Washington to win gold at the Centennial Championships as Burcin did it in 2013. On Sunday night, Hensen won the 200 breaststroke for his second gold on the championships with a time of 2:03.50 and improved his second place best time at WC by .51. He is the first Shoreman to win gold in the 200 breaststroke since Lucas Morgan '16 in 2016 and the seventh time WC has won the event. The senior is the first swimmer from Washington to win two golds at one championship since Greg Lee '15 nabbed gold in the 100 and 200 butterfly in 2015. Hensen wraps up his career with three medals as in 2023 he took home a bronze in the 100 breaststroke. He was also the only swimmer to win a gold medal that was not from Gettysburg or Swarthmore this weekend. The senior was also part of the team's record breaking 400-yard medley relay team, joining Nathan Rawa, Justin Fitzpatrick and James Hackett, that set the program mark with a time of 3:22.16 on Friday evening.

This is Hensen's first career Shoreman of the Week honor.
