HAMPTON, Va. – The Washington College sailing team traveled to the Hampton Roads to compete in the Hanbury Trophy Invite hosted by Christopher Newport that was held at Youth Sailing Virginia. The Shore Sailors finished eighth overall out of nine teams, with the A Division placing seventh and the B Division finishing eighth. All nine races were finished on Saturday.
Hanbury Trophy
- In the A Division, Washington College placed seventh with 113 points and was skippered by senior
Joseph Bonacci and junior
Rachel Morgen as crew.Â
- In the B Division, Shore Sailing's boat was skippered by freshman
Imogene Nuss with freshmen
Ethan Rower being on the crew. The boat was eighth with 151 points.Â
- Christopher Newport won the A Division with 26 points, four points better than second place Hampton which had 30.
- Christopher Newport also captured the B Division with 29 points, eight better than runner-up Hampton who had 37.

- Christopher Newport won the regatta with 55 points with Hampton placing second at 72. Washington was eighth with 264 points
- Racing occurred during steady breeze of 15 knots with gusts up to 25 from the southwest.
