Kim Named CC Rookie of the Year as Three Shoremen Gain All-Centennial Honors

Ludwigstorff Named to the Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship Team

LANCASTER, Pa. - Washington College freshman Sihoo Kim (Seongnam-si, South Korea/home school) was named the Centennial Conference Rookie of the Year for men's tennis as the conference announced its annual men's tennis awards today in a vote conducted by the conference's nine head coaches.

In addition to being named rookie of the year, Kim also earned All-Centennial Conference first team honors in both singles and doubles. He is the first men's tennis player from Washington College to be named the Centennial's Rookie of the Year and the first student-athlete from WC since field hockey's Kat Esposito won the rookie of the year in 2021. Kim is the ninth conference rookie of the year from Washington since the award was established starting with the 2012-13 school year.

Joining Kim on the All-Centennial team are sophomore Tichi Chialva (Cordoba, Argentina/La Salle HS), who was named first team doubles, and senior Aaradith Ravichandran (Chennai, India/APL Global School), who was selected honorable mention in singles. Chialva and Kim were named as a tandem for first team doubles. In addition, senior Johannes Ludwigstorff (Guntersdorf, Austria/Bundesgymnasium Hollabrunn) was named to the Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship Team.

Kim went 13-9 in his rookie campaign with the team, including 11-7 in dual matches this spring, all at the No. 1. The freshman won six consecutive matches from March 28-April 14, winning 12 of 15 sets in the process. He went 4-2 in Centennial matches this season.

Chialva and Kim emerged as the team's top doubles tandem, going 10-5 this season, all in dual matches. The pair went 5-3 at the top flight and 4-2 at second. The duo picked up a win over a regionally ranked team on April 12 against TCNJ.

Ravichandran was second on the team in wins with a career-high 12 as he went 12-11 on the season. He played in 18 dual matches, playing 17 of them at No. 2 and the other at the top flight. He is now a two-time All-Centennial pick as he was second team doubles last spring. The senior finished his career with 38 victories.

Ludwigstorff was named to the All-Sportsmanship for the first time.  Each Centennial Conference member institution was permitted to nominate one student-athlete who exemplifies the best in sportsmanship for the All-Sportsmanship Team. This is the first time he has been named to the team. He picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win at Dickinson March 29.
