Chestertown, MD - The Washington College men's tennis team will open up its spring season with a non-conference matchup against Catholic University inside the Johnson Fitness Center on February 14th at 3:00 PM inside the Johnson Fitness Center.
Last Season:
The Shoremen earned the fourth seed in the Centennial Conference Tournament based on the regular season standings. In the postseason playoffs, they faced top seeded Swarthmore in the first-round. Washington was swept by the Garnet but showed promise as a young team. The Shoremen had three dates of competition in the fall of 2025. At the Mary Washington Invite, Tichi Chialva won both of his singles matches, including a match against conference rival, Johns Hopkins. The Shoremen fell in their singular home match in a close 4-3 contest against Virginia Wesleyan.
Returning for the Shoremen:
Chialva returns to lead the team in his junior season after earning Centennial Conference first team honors in doubles. Senior Kohl Perkins and junior Jorge Urgal Zuleta also return for the program as the only other upperclassmen among the two sophomores and three freshmen who will look to make their mark on the program.
From Associate Head Coach Naz Karagöz:
"We're excited to kick off a new season with a strong core of returning players who know our standards and a group of new faces who are already making an impact. The energy and commitment in training have been exceptional, and this group is hungry to keep building. We're ready to compete and grow together from day one."
