Malery Andrews (Ocean City, Md./Stephen Decatur) is this week's Shorewoman of the Week. Andrews scored a team-high nine goals in a pair of victories in Florida.
Andrews tallied a career-best five goals in Thursday's 19-4 win over Bridgewater State in the team's second and final game of the week in Clearwater. Andrews ignited an eight-goal run spanning the first and second quarters that saw the Shorewomen turn a 2-2 tie into a 10-3 lead. The senior scored the first three goals, scoring the the goal that put Washington ahead for good, 3-2, with 5:37 left in the first and the eventual game winning score with 12:26 to go in the second at 5-2. She added the seventh goal in the run with 6:26 to go before halftime that put the Shorewomen ahead 9-2 to net four of the team's eight scores during the run. Her career-best fifth tally came in the fourth quarter with 9:40 left to make it 18-3. In Wednesday's 20-11 victory over Merchant Marine, Andrews recorded four scores, two in each half.
This is Andrews' first career Shorewoman of the Week honor.
