Chestertown, MD - Corey Begly has announced that he is stepping down as head coach of Washington College's men's basketball team.

Begly finished his third season with the Shoremen during the 2025-26 school year. He leaves Chestertown after opening the past season with a nine-game win streak, the best start since 1928-29, while also improving the team's winning percentage every year during his tenure.

He returns to Connecticut College as head coach where he previously served a four-year stint as lead assistant prior to coming to Chestertown.  

"Even though his time at Washington College was short, Corey's impact on our men's basketball team, athletic department, and campus community will be greatly missed," states athletic director Thad Moore.  "We wish him and his family all the best in his next endeavor." 

A nationwide search for the next Washington College men's basketball head coach will begin immediately.
