Box Score SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Host Swarthmore scored twice in the first 7:14 of the second half to snap a scoreless halftime tie en route to a 2-0 win over visiting Washington College at Clothier Field in a Centennial Conference men's soccer match on Wednesday night. Swarthmore is now 9-2-4 overall and 5-0-2 in the conference, while the Shoremen drop to 7-7-1 and 1-5-1 respectively.
The Garnet got onto the board 3:10 into the second half when Jack Momeyer scored on a scramble in front of the goal to put the hosts ahead 1-0. Just 4:04 later, David Geschwind made it a two-goal lead with Jake Weiner getting the helper after a throw-in was misplayed by the Shoremen defense.
Swarthmore held a 12-8 advantage in shots and had a 7-3 edge in corner kicks in the contest. Peter Maxted made three saves for the Garnet in recording the shutout, while junior goalkeeper Lin Robinson (York, Pa./York Country Day) and freshman goalkeeper Jon Wendeborn (Lambertville, N.J./South Hunterdon) each made one save. Robinson played the first half, while Wendeborn was the second half keeper for the guests.
The Shoremen have their home finale on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. versus visiting Johns Hopkins in a conference match.
