Box Score SALISBURY, Md. – Matt Greene scored the lone goal of the match in the 50th minute to lift host #23 Salisbury to a 1-0 win over visiting Washington College, 1-0, on Wednesday afternoon at the SU Soccer Complex in a non-conference men's soccer match. The Sea Gulls improve to 5-0-1 on the season, while the Shoremen drop to 4-2-0.
Greene scored at the 49:45 mark to complete a transition opportunity for the Sea Gulls on an unassisted goal.
Salisbury held a slim 9-8 advantage in shots, but had a controlling 12-3 margin in corner kicks.
In goal, Drew Staedeli made two saves to pitch the shutout for the Sea Gulls. For the Shoremen, senior goalkeeper Lin Robinson (York, Pa./York Country Day) did not allow a goal in the first 45 minutes of action and did not have to make a save. He was relieved by junior goalkeeper David Myers (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) who made one save, but allowed the lone goal of the contest.
Senior forward Joseph Fili (Sparks, Md./Loyola Blakefield) had both of Washington's shots on goal in the match.
The Shoremen open up Centennial Conference action on Saturday afternoon at home versus Dickinson with kickoff slated for 1:00 p.m.
