Box Score Gaeffke Factors In On Both Goals For Washington
ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Junior midfielder Kyle Gaeffke (Haverford, Pa./Harriton) factored into both goals as he had a goal and an assist as visiting Washington College blanked host Muhlenberg 2-0 at Varsity Field on Saturday afternoon in a Centennial Conference men's soccer match. It was the regular season finale for both teams. The Shoremen have now downed the Mules three straight times for the first time in the series.

How It Happened
- The Shoremen got onto the board just 88 seconds into the match as Gaeffke found Brian Graham from the top of 18 on the left side and his shot found the right corner of the goal to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.
- Muhlenberg had a golden chance to tie it in the final seconds of the first half following a foul just outside the box by Washington. Noah Fulcomer headed the ball off the free kick, but Washington goalie Jonathan Luciani made the save and the Shoremen were able to clear the rebound.
- Michael Holowesko almost made it 2-0 5:37 into the second half, but his header just went over the crossbar.
- The Mules just over a minute later had a golden chance to even the match, but Matt Athanas-Linden's shot went just wide to the right.
- Off of a free kick, Griffin Bull's shot had to be tipped over the crossbar by Mule keeper Jordan Schreer in the 56th minute.
- The Shoremen got their insurance goal with 6:13 left following a handball in the box by a Muhlenberg defender and nobody from Washington near the box. Gaeffke converted the penalty kick into the lower right corner to make it 2-0.
- Muhlenberg almost got onto the board with 1:11 left on a shot by Anthony Carracino, but his shot rang off the right post.

- The Mules took 12 shots in the contest and had a pair of corners.
Notes
- Washington posted its second ever shutout against Muhlenberg, the other coming in a 0-0 tie in 1996.
- Prior to the three-match winning streak for the Shoremen, the Mules were 25-1-2 against the Shoremen from 1983-2014. Prior to 2015, the Shoremen's lone win was a 2-1 victory in 2008 in Allentown. In addition to the 1996 tie, the two teams played to a 1-1 draw in 1985.
- In 200 minutes of action this week, Luciani did not allow a goal and made eight saves.
- Four seniors, Holowesko, Skyler Clark, Chris Gingrich and Debashish Goenka, represented the Shoremen for the final time today.
