Fords Notch Four-Set Victory Against Shorewomen

Four WC Players Total Double-Doubles

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Visiting Haverford won the final two sets to come away with a 3-1 (25-17, 23-25, 25-23, 25-22) win over host Washington College on Wednesday night at the Cain Athletic Center in a Centennial Conference volleyball match.  The Fords are now 7-13 overall and 2-4 in the Centennial, while the Shorewomen fall to 7-13 and 2-5 respectively. 

Haverford 3 Washington College 1 (25-17, 23-25, 25-23, 25-22)

How It Happened
- In the opening set, Haverford outscored Washington 10-2 to turn a 15-15 tie into a 25-17 win with a Natalie Pisch kill to end the opening set. 
- The Shorewomen led 23-19 in the second set following a kill by Kaitlyn Marino before the Fords won four straight points to tie it at 23-23 on a Riley Outen kill.  However, WC won the last two points to win the set as Kaitlyn Marino made it 24-23 on a kill and a bad set by the Fords ended the set to tie the match at a set apiece. 
- Haverford and Washington were tied in the third set at 23-23 before the guests won the last two points of the set to take the third.  Dina Kosyagin tallied a kill to make it 24-23 and Pisch notched a finisher to seal the set for the Fords.
- Tied at 21-21 in the fourth set, the Fords won four of the final five points to win the set and match.  Kosyagin put the Fords ahead for good on a kill and at 24-22 she recorded the set and match clinching kill.   

For The Shorewomen (7-13, 2-5 CC)
- Marino (match-high 13 kills to go with 13 digs), Cassie Kowalski (12 kills and team-best 20 digs), Lauren Zedlar (20 assists and 15 digs), Jensyn Hartzell (20 assists and 13 digs), Jenny Kabrick and Abby Smith (15 digs), Isabella Sansanelli (seven blocks to lead all participants)
- Washington had served up six aces on the night.
- Washington hit .147 and rejected eight Haverford attack attempts.

For Haverford (7-13, 2-4 CC)
- Sara Hunsberger (40 assists to lead all players and 14 digs), Sara Matsumara (match-high 34 digs), Julia Gallagher-Teske (10 kills and team-high five blocks), Kosyagin and Pisch (squad-best 12 kills), Kendall Robison (10 digs), Outen (contest-high six aces)
- The Fords hit .166 in the match and had nine blocks.
- Haverford served a total of 11 aces.

Notes
- Hartzell was named the Goose Nation TV Shorewoman of the Match during the broadcast.
- Hartzell, Kowalski, Marino and Zedlar all notched double-doubles for the Shorewomen.
