Meng Wins Consolation Singles Match

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — Washington College women's tennis student-athletes Ella Samer and Irene Meng competed in the Championship Draws of both singles and doubles at the ITA Southeast Regional Championships, hosted by Mary Washington, yesterday and today. Meng picked up a consolation win in singles play.

ITA Southeast Regional Championships

Doubles
- Samer and Meng lost their first-round doubles match against Evelyn Chang and Emily Javedan of Johns Hopkins, 8-5.
- In the first consolation round, they lost to Washington and Lee's Lillian Horsley and Claire Lacksen, 8-2.

Singles
- Meng dropped her first-round match in singles to Swarthmore's Jennifer Lewis, 6-3, 5-7, 6-1.
- Meng then topped Sweet Briar's Ruth DeSouza, 8-7(4), in her first consolation match.
- In the second consolation round, Meng lost to Mary Washington's Amanda Hagino, 8-4.
- Samer lost her first round match in singles to Salisbury's Laura Brown, 6-2, 6-2.
- In the first consolation round, Samer lost to Washington and Lee's Becket Waters, 8-6.
