Box Score Orlando, Fla. - - -The Washington College women's tennis team defeated Transylvania, 7-2, on Tuesday morning in Orlando, Florida. The Shorewomen improved to 4-1 on the season.
Doubles
The Shorewomen lost a tough, 8-7 decision at the top doubles spot as Alisha White and Cecilia Cress were edged by Jessica Burton and Porsche Robinson. Irene Meng and Ella Samer came together for an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles against Sheila Cetina and Merrick Irwin. Riley Katzman and Marin Vander Schaaf gave Washington an 8-5 victory versus Christina Duvall and Alyssa Igyarto at the No. 3 spot.
Singles
Meng bested Robinson at No. 1 singles, 6-4, 6-3 but White fell to Cetina by a 6-3, 4-6, 0-1 (tiebreak). Alexa Venturato pulled out a come-from-behind triumph against Duvall at No. 6 singles. Duvall took the opening set, 6-1, but Venturato won 6-4 in the second and won the tiebreak in the third. Samer (No. 3) Nguyen (No. 4) and Vander Schaaf (No. 5) all won in straight sets.
