Fairchild Sets Career-High in Digs with 21 to Lead All Players

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Gettysburg's Zanze Kuba-McCoy tallied 19 kills and 19 digs for a double-double in a 3-1 (25-21, 25-10, 22-25, 25-19) win over host Washington College on Saturday afternoon at Penny J. Fall Gymnasium in a Centennial Conference volleyball match.  The Bullets improve to 11-7 overall and 3-3 in the Centennial, while the Shorewomen fall to 8-10 and 1-5 respectively.    

Gettysburg 3 Washington College 1 (25-21, 25-10, 22-25, 25-19)

How It Happened
- The Bullets used a 6-3 run to end the first set as they broke away from a one-point lead, 19-18.  Kuba-McCoy clinched the first set for Gettysburg on a kill. 
- In the second set, Gettysburg hit .524 en route to a 15-point victory with Olivia Biggs ending the second set with a kill.
- Trailing 19-17 in the third set, Washington responded with an 8-3 run to come away with a three-point win.  The Shorewomen clinched the third on a setting error by the Bullets.
- Leading 18-17 in the fourth set, Gettysburg scored seven of the last nine points to win the set and match.  Kuba-McCoy ended the contest with a finisher.

For The Shorewomen (8-10, 1-5 CC)
- Courtney Maxwell (12 kills), Jenna Daunoras (four blocks), Jordan Fairchild (21 digs to set career-high), Lauren Zedlar (21 assists), Jensyn Hartzell (13 assists and two aces) 
- Team hit .131 in the contest, notched four rejections and served up eight aces.

For Gettysburg (11-7, 3-3 CC)
- Kuba-McCoy (19 kills, 19 digs and three aces), Sarah Ellis (24 assists), Sophie Nasir (21 assists), Kylie Ulrich (11 kills), Chelsea O'Leary (14 digs), Ingrid Bayer (match-best six blocks)
- The Bullets hit .298 in the contest, had nine blocks and eight aces.

Notes
- Fairchild is the first WC player to notch 20 or more digs this season and the first since Abby Smith '21 had 30 and Abby Hilty '21 had 26 in a five-setter versus Wesley on September 21, 2019.  Earlier that day against Gettysburg, Hilty had 20 digs in a four-set match.
