Box Score Corrao Sets Career-High in Points with 20 and Sends Game to OT on Three-Pointer to Complete Comeback from 15 Down in the Second Half
OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Host Stevenson got a layup from KJ Holton with 9.1 seconds left in overtime for the winning basket after blowing a 15-point second half lead to come away with an 89-87 overtime win over visiting Washington College on Saturday night in a non-conference men's basketball game at Owings Mills Gymnasium in the Pride of Maryland Classic. The Mustangs improve to 4-1 on the season, while the Shoremen drop to 1-3.

How It Happened
- Trailing 68-53 with just over eight minutes to go, Washington netted 13 of the next 17 points to cut the lead to 72-66 with 2:49 to go in the second half on a Nick Romeo jumper.
- Down 76-69, Tray Wright converted a three-pointer after a Kedrick Frink offensive rebound to reduce the deficit to 76-72 with 1:02 remaining.
- Dillon Smith stole the inbounds pass and found Romeo who was fouled and made both from the foul line to make it a 76-74 game with 56 seconds to go in the second half.
- Holton would give the Mustangs a 77-74 lead on a free throw with 36 ticks left before Corrao canned a three to knot the game at 77-77 with 26 ticks left and forced overtime.
- In overtime, Dilyn Becker gave Washington its first lead since early in the game on a jumper 52 seconds in to make it 79-77.
- Khalil Richard would answer with a three on the next possession to give Stevenson an 80-79 advantage and sparked a 9-1 run that gave the Mustangs an 86-80 advantage with 1:50 left following two Richard free throws.
- The Shoremen would battle back to tie the game at 87-87 as Corrao would drain his fifth triple of the night with 18 ticks left in the extra period.
- On the next possession, Stevenson would break the press and Holton would make a lay-in with 9.1 left to put the hosts ahead 89-87.
- WC had the ball last and Becker got a look from the top of the arc, but his three was off the mark and Stevenson got the win.
- After Corrao gave Washington a 3-2 lead on a three-pointer 40 seconds into the game, Stevenson answered with a 17-0 run to take a 19-3 lead on a Cameron Smith three with 12:19 remaining in the first half.
- The Shoremen would cut the deficit to just seven at 34-27 with 3:26 remaining on a Becker jumper.
- Stevenson would take a 42-33 lead into halftime with Corrao converting a four-point play with 12 seconds left to cap the opening half scoring.
- Washington would trim the Stevenson lead to 44-38 just 2:13 into the second half on a three by Romeo.
- Leading 52-45, the Mustangs would score 16 of the next 24 points to take a 68-53 lead with 8:02 remaining on a Richard layup.
For The Shoremen (1-3)
- Corrao (20 points to set career-high, 7-for-11 from floor and 5-for-8 from three-point range), Wright (10 points and team-high 10 rebounds for double-double; t), Becker (15 points and team-best five assists to match career-high in both categories), Frink (14 points), Romeo (personal-best 10 points), Smith (four steals to set personal-high)
- The Shoremen shot 40% (29-for-72) from the floor, 34% (11-for-32) from three-point range and 78% (18-for-23) from the foul line.
- Washington turned it over just seven times and totaled nine steals.
For Stevenson (4-1)
- Richard (game-best 26 points and two steals), Bo Wesley (13 points and game-highs of 12 blocks and three blocks for double-double), Cameron Smith (21 points), Holton (10 points), Jones (six assists to lead all players), Davon Jones (two steals)
- The Mustangs shot 53% (37-for-70) from the floor, 29% (5-for-17) from three-point range and 56% (10-for-18) from the free throw stripe.
- Stevenson outscored Washington in bench points, 20-18, points in the paint, 44-18, second chance points, 25-13, and transition points, 11-9.
- The Mustangs outrebounded the Shoremen by a 47-29 margin.
Notes
- Wright tallied his second career double-double and was the first Shoremen to record one since Daniel Brown '21 (12 points and 10 boards) did on February 12, 2020 versus Ursinus. Wright had his first one at Ursinus on February 6, 2019 on 17 points and 13 boards.
- It was the first time since the 2017-18 season that the Shoremen played in back-to-back overtime games as they played Frostburg State on November 26, 2017 and two days later went to the extra session versus Cairn. WC went 1-1 in those two games.
- Both teams scored 13 points off turnovers in the game.
